That's the whole point of the hardware wallet - to keep them offline.

Not a forced decision by any means but I explained to him the value of investing yesterday (fiat vs stocks vs metals) and he made the decision.

The bot trading is back. They have about 10K XRP locked in wallet reserves. They can trade issuances (IOU's) below the reserve requirement but not XRP.

That's exactly what they're doing. Burning the reserve by trading BTC they issued. Look at the highlighted totals:
