Elon Musk argued OpenAI was founded as a nonprofit, open-source counterweight to Google, focused on AI safety and benefiting humanity.

He claimed OpenAI abandoned that mission by shifting toward a for-profit structure.

Elon warned the case could set a dangerous precedent, saying it could give others "license to loot every charity in America" and "it is not OK to steal a charity."

He also said AI could surpass human intelligence as soon as next year, making control of the technology extremely important.
