In Art at @jog_school @ExcaliburAT, we pride ourselves on how we teach students to read, write & create like an artist!
We are proud to release the new Literacy posters coming to the classroom to further promote our ❤️ for reading!
Made by our artist in residence, Miss Barnes 🎨
***seeing as the Year 10s want to use their photographs for their NEA, we can't post those pictures but here is Miss Barnes' outcome to give you an idea as to what our artist's bacteria paintings came out like***

A huge thanks again to Mrs Keeley-Green in the Science Dept who talked the class through why their outcomes came out in particular ways such as creating microcolonies and having other bacteria growing on the agar.
Well done Year 10 - you continue to impress us ✨️

Year 10 parents, carers and relatives had their very own private viewing and also became proud owners of the exhibition catalogue.
There were tears and smiles all round. 👏🏼

We had a grand opening with SLT, staff and the students, ribbon cutting, and soft arrival drinks. Students and staff were handed a exhibition catalogue and had an afternoon of enjoying and admiring the hardwork, dedication and creativity of our artists in Year 10.

📣🚨VISUAL ARTS WEEK🚨📣
Just WOW - our students never cease to amaze us 🤩
Miss Barnes took her Year 10 class into the Science Lab today as part of Visual Arts Week to create agar paintings out of live genetically modified bacteria, e.coli, for their NEA 🦠

And a huge thank you to Mrs Keely-Green and the Science Department for helping us keep safe and teaching us about the microbes and how to paint with bacteria. 🤩

📣🚨VISUAL ARTS WEEK🚨📣
Portraiture club was fantastic today.
The students experimented with some blind continuous line drawings from life and then turned these into wire sculptures ✏️
I'm getting Picasso vibes!
Keep it up ✨️

We started off the lesson with learning what the word distortion meant then we moved onto blind continuous line drawings of the different facial features of their shoulder partner.
