The algorithm is really bad right now. I’ve been publishing maps since 2019, and I’ve never experienced anything like what’s happening now.
Maps that I updated in the past would always get at least some traffic. Now, everything feels completely dead. And don’t even get me started on the NEW & UPDATED tab, where it feels like the same copied Minecraft maps keep showing up over and over again...
@Falin_Dev@RabiesFPS@FNCreate Hey! I’m from the Epic Picks team, and I’m happy to inform you that your map has been selected to appear in next week’s Epic Picks. You can also request a banner whenever you’d like! Thank you for supporting as @FNCreate
Funny, that you really believe that. There are genres that will never hit some stats like 30 minutes session time and others that easily can go up to 1 hour. If you think that their algorithm counts any of that for getting in new tab or updated you are naive. If you check new tab most maps get instantly in top six spots there is no testing. In the other side maps that get in 7 or above have 90%+ to never hit top 6 spots. Also most maps that hit top 6 are published from new accounts.
What about the Prop Hunt category? For the last five months, there’s been only one Prop Hunt that performs well because it gets 2–3x the number of plays that all the other Prop Hunts get combined.
You first need to ban some bad actors, but “banning” seems to be a prohibited word for you guys.
@ThiagoUnreal The sad part is, you can update your map a thousand times, and you still won’t get into the Updated tab. That’s how Discovery has been working for the last few months. Maybe if you get into the sponsored row, it will activate the Updatesd tab.
@FLAVA77Y@FNCreate You know they don’t care. They added the duplicate button when you right-click any of your projects. In 1 second you duplicate your map with all verse devices connected and do you know what’s even better? You have a 100% chance to hit new tab.
I dont want to bitch too much, but..
This proves that, despite HEIST ESCAPE already having very strong playtime at the time, it would not have succeeded as much with the algorithm without the exposure Epic Games manually gave it.
But Im glad they were given a channce

Hey, I never saw your reply @HaroldAtEpic
It feels like every time someone updates their map, all of the previous stats stop counting and you basically have to start over again like a new map. Also lets say i’m ranked around 40th in my main category, if I happen to get into one of the top 6 spots in the Updated tab (the only spots that actually count), I immediately get pushed 100–300 spots lower in my main category.
Maybe all of this is just in my head or simply my personal experience, but the thing I really can’t stand is seeing maps that haven’t been updated for 1–2 years suddenly come back to life and start competing again.
It honestly feels like the system is basically telling us not to update our maps, because updating them seems to reset or negatively affect the progress we’ve already made.
@OFFTHEXio@HaroldAtEpic@Sil3nt_FNC@FNCreate Hahaha, they already know the outcome of this challenge. No need to test it. The map is gonna die in less than an hour after hitting the top 6 slots in the New tab, if it ever even gets there.
Over the last few months, I’ve noticed some Maps that hadn’t been updated for years have suddenly come back to life with zero promotion. On the other hand, I regularly update some of my Maps 2–3 times per month, and I’ve noticed that, over time, their impressions start declining and they begin losing positions in their categories. Some of my Maps that were previously ranking in the top 20–60 are now completely out of the top 100. I’ve also seen many posts from other creators reporting a similar experience: after updating their Maps, they suddenly lose a significant number of positions in their categories.
@ThiagoUnreal@FNCreate If you’re not a creator with millions of followers across all socials, there’s almost no reason to upload a new map that takes hours of time and effort to build. The discovery algorithm is useless. Let’s see how long it takes @HaroldAtEpic and his team to understand this.
@chillzuefn Also, with how Discovery works now, updating your map can actually hurt its performance. If someone checks Discovery, they can see that maps that haven’t been updated for months or even years seem to have a better chance of appearing there.
@duos_with_dad@FNCreate Is this guy botting? Out of all the prop hunts created in the last months, he’s the only one that keeps players, and his prop hunts are duplicates with no changes in the last 10 months. Also, I haven’t seen any Shorts videos on YouTube or TikTok, and his Discord server is dead.
@Alex_UEFN@BiboPlayer Have you played these maps? They’re averaging 1K+ players from sponsored rows. Maybe the two shittiest maps ever. They’ll spend 30K on sponsored rows, and then they’ll still retain a decent audience. Thats the only way for a new map to succeed now
@BiboPlayer Things are a lot worse. Half of the maps in your screenshot are also paying thousands daily in sponsored row. No maps made it in the last 4 months without spending 5-10k daily for 1-2 weeks in sponsored row.
@JDuthx Just press this button and republish the map with the same thumbnail. For some stupid reason, Epic made it easier for duplicate maps to hit the New tab and Discovery in general. Also, don’t take into account the similarity thumbnail message, you’re still gonna get in Discovery.
