⚠️BREAKING
New reassortant H5N1 Bird Flu virus in Cambodia kills 7, sickens 11, 1 critical on life support.
6 critical points:
✴️7 of these cases are reported in June alone.
✴️Recent addition of an unannounced case of a 19-month-old boy from Takeo province who also died this month.
✴️All patients had contact with sick birds.
✴️Although there is no documented/reported H2H spread, these numbers are extremely worrying.
✴️Generic sub-typing by the Pasteur institute should be available by now.
Human adaptation mutations like E627K and D701 are critical bits of information that we need to know NOW.
✴️There have been 83 cases of Bird Flu in Cambodia since 2003, with a 60% mortality.
✴️The increasing numbers and mortality in 2025 are clear cause for extreme concern.

We are witnessing with despair the iniquitous use of hunger as a weapon of war. Burning crops, stealing livestock, and blocking aid are tactics increasingly used by armed militias. As civilians languish in misery, political elites grow fat with impunity. It is time to sanction these abuses and hold accountable those who are responsible for it.
