This Algoma Steel layoff situation just keeps getting worse and worse.

Union claims the government kept giving money (to the tune of millions) without ANY worker provisions.

Worse—they gave this money to lure Algoma into making “green steel”, which THEY KNEW would cause mass layoffs.

This was confirmed in August of 2024 with a Globe and Mail report—but sure, let’s blame Trump tariffs 🤷‍♀️

Of course losing their entire market had an impact—but these layoffs were coming either way after Algoma decided to “transition”
