Today, I concluded my second rally of the day at Soroti Sports Ground, where I addressed the people of Soroti District and Soroti City. The first contribution of the NRM was peace. I remember when the people of Teso were living in camps because of insecurity and cattle rustling. Today, all that is history, we defeated the rebels and cattle rustlers. That is why our people are now settled peacefully in their homes.

We began the day with a rally in Ngora District where I reminded the people how far we have come, from the painful incident of Mukura and life in refugee camps to the peace and stability we enjoy today. We are now addressing the remaining social needs by building new Health Centre IIIs in Ngora, Agirigiroi and Morukakise, as well as staff houses at Mukura Health Centre III. Government is also constructing a solar powered water supply system in Olilim and the Lake Kyoga multi purpose gravity flow scheme to serve four districts in Teso, including Ngora. In addition, UGX 1.7 billion has been invested in Emyooga SACCOs to help households fight poverty. The NRM has shown the way. Poverty is personal, development is for government. Choose your side wisely.

From Ngora, together with the NRM leadership, we proceeded to Kumi District. I salute the people of Teso for working with the army to restore peace. I personally camped at Nyero Rocks during the insurgency, and after peace returned, I directed that a full primary school be built there. That is how, through cooperation and NRM’s clear ideology, we brought lasting peace to Teso. After peace came development. We repaired and tarmacked key roads including Tororo–Soroti, Soroti–Kumi–Kamdini, Katakwi–Moroto, and Tirinyi–Pallisa–Kumi. Funds are already secured for the Kumi–Ngora–Serere–Kagwara–Bugondo road. Electricity now covers most of Kumi, with plans to extend to the remaining sub-counties, and the Lake Kyoga Gravity Flow Scheme will serve four districts. The NRM is not in theatrics; we are in transformation. Kumi District oyee!
