Scriptural miracles are not just stories. They actually occurred, showing us how Heavenly Father acts in His power.
In the Old Testament, we read about a faithful widow who, following the inspired instructions of the prophet Elisha, gathered as many empty pots as she could and poured oil from her one small pot into each of them. The oil filled them all, running out only when the widow ran out of pots (see 2 Kings 4:1–7).
When sharing that story, Sister Christofferson likes to point out that the Lord’s blessing of oil for the widow expanded to fill all the capacity she had to receive it and presumably would have continued had she had more pots—suggesting that the Lord is willing to give what we are prepared to receive.
Miracles teach us that God, according to His purposes, timing, love, and wisdom, will give us what we are prepared to receive.

Church News this week, July 12-18
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has reached a new record of 88,500 full-time missionaries serving worldwide. The new historic total surpasses the previous high of 88,000, set in 2014. Church leaders attribute the surge to the first wave of 18-year-old sister missionaries entering the field. The missionary force is comprised of teaching and service missionaries and senior missionaries. The milestone also comes as the Church opened 55 new missions on July 1.
Speaking of missionaries, a new mural at the Provo Missionary Training Center recognizes the Church’s first single sister missionaries and inspires current missionaries. The first single sister missionaries — Inez Knight and Jennie Brimhall — reached England in 1898, with the new mural depicting their service. Walking past it at the MTC includes those who are making history as the new wave of sister missionaries going out at age 18.
The Church recently released site locations for three temples in South America — Medellín, Colombia; Goiânia, Brazil; and Campo Grande, Brazil. The Church has also released a rendering of the new Spanish Fork Utah Temple. It was the last of the 15 temples announced in April 2025 by President Russell M. Nelson in his final general conference address.
After becoming the first baptized member of the Church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo 40 years ago, President Junior Banza is returning to the country as a mission president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Kinshasa North Mission. President Banza was baptized in 1986 — at 14-years-old — after the Church was officially recognized by the country.
He says of returning to the DR Congo: “The Lord has given me a front-row seat to His biggest miracle.” Inside a refugee camp in Kenya, a new branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is growing in numbers. What started out as just six members, the branch has grown to over 100 in a year. Most people came to the camp after fleeing conflict or insecurity in their countries. And they now meet each Sunday to worship and find strength in Jesus Christ together.
“Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it” (Doctrine and Covenants 135:3).
I invite bishops and parents to prayerfully help youth focus their lives on Jesus Christ, trust in Him, and prepare with faith to serve Him through missionary service.
As they do, they will come to know the Savior more deeply, strengthen their discipleship, and experience the joy and blessings that come from faithfully following Him.
I feel increasingly drawn to the Savior’s love and the never-ending blessings promised us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
When I think of the suffering I have personally seen as I have traveled throughout much of the world in my calling as an Apostle—which is so infinitesimally small compared with all those who have or will ever walk the earth—I cannot, with any words I know, describe the feelings in my heart for what must have occurred in the heart and mind and body and soul of the Savior in His sacred moments of all-encompassing suffering for the sins and pain of all humanity.
He did not shield us from the difficult experiences of life that bring immeasurable pain, but He protected us from everlasting suffering and estrangement from Heavenly Father and allowed us, through His all-encompassing suffering, to have the blessing of perfect joy and eternal happiness in the presence of God.
The human mind can scarcely begin to comprehend how completely the destiny of mankind changed because of what happened in Gethsemane, on the cross, and at the tomb.
Missionary work is soaring to new heights. We are days away from the opening of 55 new missions. This brings the total number of missions to 506. There is a total of over 87,000 full-time missionaries. And we are currently being reinforced by the first wave of 18-year-old sisters beginning their service.
In coming weeks, we will have the largest number of full-time missionaries in the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
These missionaries’ first responsibility is to testify of Jesus Christ to a world that suffers without knowledge of His divine mission. They invite people across the globe to become part of His true and living Church.
I affirm my testimony of Jesus Christ and the truth of His gospel. The Holy Ghost has given me a witness of its truthfulness, and I rejoice that I can spend my life in proclaiming it.
Enduring to the end is linked inextricably to the spiritual gift of charity. Enduring to the end is not merely a relentless determination to grit our teeth, hold on to the limits of our physical strength and mental capacity, and push through the challenges and adversities of mortal life; it is so much more than that.
Enduring to the end is the joyous quest of a lifetime—a pressing forward with faith in Jesus Christ in a gradual process of trusting in and receiving help from our Savior to become more like Him. As our love for Him grows ever stronger and deeper, we can be blessed to receive spiritual perspective, the Lord’s empowering grace, and exceedingly great and indescribable joy.
I invite you to take a screenshot of this word cloud and additional graphics summarizing our discussion during the worldwide devotional for young adults.
These principles of the gospel, alongside practical applications of gospel living, demonstrate that Jesus Christ and His Atonement live at the center of our effort to deepen conversion.
Please reserve some quiet time within the next week to prayerfully consider these precepts with others that will come to your mind, that will lead to deepening your conversion and lifelong discipleship to Jesus Christ.
