About: Released December 10th 1999 in Japan shortly after the release of Gold/Silver showcasing the new Johto starters. Not yet released in America, Japan had a whole year before we did with the Johto mons! The final evolution of the water starter of this generation. So iconic it got a mega evolution and a really cool SIR in AH that I also have! This also wraps up my showcase of NPF1 and will move into NPF2 next so keep an eye out for more to come!
On this day in 2001, Pokémon Crystal Version released in North America on the Nintendo GameBoy Color 🎉
What are your favorite moments from exploring the Johto region, Trainers?
@Catscollecttcg Do you think this could be a direct result of Japan implementing their anti-scalping practices like Face ID etc? I figured it would directly affect the ability to get product in America but who knows?
@trapshoptcg Real standout member of the community, offers discount codes from affiliates ONTOP of already having great prices. Couldn’t recommend enough!

The pivot to Japanese vintage is going to destroy the only peace I found in this hobby. While many people rushed into modern era sets, I quietly collected what I feel are pieces of history. Not for money but to preserve moments in time from a hobby that’s lasted this long. What a shame, hopefully this will be too niche for his audience and scalpers
Maybe I am a larper.
I had no idea the first Pokémon Trading Cards came from within a Japanese magazine called Corocoro Comic #223… they were a “glossy” Pikachu & Jigglypuff released October 15, 1996 that literally had to be peeled from the sheet inside the book
And when I found out that there are currently ZERO PSA 10s of the Pikachu (basically his rookie card), I began my Odyssey.
Over the past 6 months, I spent millions of dollars & hundreds of hours chasing a Pokémon card that doesn’t exist. I even tried to peel the two cards from a Corocoro 223 myself, thus destroying the value of the $150,000 book (i.e. when you remove the cards, the book is considered “incomplete”)
I submitted the Pikachu & Jigglypuff that I peeled for grading, and received a PSA 2 and a PSA 5… I was shattered. Turns out, 30 years of being glued to a sheet sandwiched between hundreds of pages is the reason these cards are so hard to grade. Out of the 1400+ Pikachus that have been graded, not a SINGLE ONE has ever received a perfect 10. It’s statistically impossible, and after peeling for them myself, I see why…
The 57 minute movie I posted on YouTube yesterday is a story that every collector can relate to: obsession —> pursuit —> failure —> regrounding —> ascent. And now, the ascent begins
I’m still on the hunt to obtain what I consider to be the most valuable Pokémon card in the world, and on July 30th at 9:30pm EST, I’ll be peeling a PERFECT Corocoro 223 sheet that could contain the first and only PSA 10 Pikachu #1 … live on my YouTube channel. Save the date 🗓️
After so many years of being lost media, Pokémon’s original introduction to the west during E3 1998 has been archived!
Check this historic moment where Pokémon is introduced, and thanks to the Video Game History Foundation for their incredible work at preserving gaming history.
@ThePayDayVault That’s how I feel about 99% of the cards in my PC, been to collect a con etc and rarely ever find what I’m looking for, one day brother it’ll be yours! Manifesting it 🤟
On this date in 2000, “Pokémon: The Movie 2000” opened in U.S. theaters.
