#CAA_NRC Fight is about idea of #India. Every citizen has an idea of India, which is based on his/her perception. Tragic, everyone quotes the #Constitution, without ever having read it.
The SC is the only competent institution to assess the constitutional validity of the laws.
Every calculation you have ever done uses a system India invented.
Before Indian mathematicians gave the world zero and the decimal place, Greek and Roman maths used letters for numbers. Try multiplying MXLVII by CCXCIV. Merchants, architects and astronomers across the ancient world were trapped.
Baghdad's Al-Khwarizmi (c.780–847) transmitted it west. His book on the Indian place system and algorithmic calculation laid the foundation of modern mathematics. The word "algorithm" is a corruption of his name. "Algebra" comes from his treatise title. Both are Arabic transmissions of Indian originals.
Abraham Seidenberg's History of Mathematics credits India's Sulba Sutras as the inspiration for all mathematics of the ancient world.
Lin Yutang, Chinese philosopher: "India was China's teacher in trigonometry, quadratic equations, grammar, phonetics."
Carl Sagan thought Vedic cosmology the only ancient system whose timescales correspond to modern scientific cosmology.
Every time a computer runs, it counts in a system India designed.
@NikkiHaley@KaartikGor Looking at the 14 point MoU, it seems like a very tall order. The signing on Friday is not far - how much can be achieved until then is a big question.
@bykarthikreddy@Sanjay_Dixit Political differences can't b used to instigate people to kill their opponents, & that too so openly by the President of national political party, @INCIndia@BJP4India. This is real low of Indian politics. Does the law permit it? If not, why? If yes, why? Indians deserve better.
POTUS - sign the US-Iran war MoU for peace, facilitated by Pak, on his birthday today. Iran wants a comprehensive cessation of war, incl in Lebanon. Israel recently attacked S. Beirut. Sharif says e-MoU will be signed within 24 hrs. Can Iran chastise Hezbollah; can US do Israel?
The deal taking shape with Iran is significantly worse than the JCPOA. I don't say that lightly. Here is why:
1) The JCPOA was one comprehensive, binding agreement. This is a two-stage interim framework. End the war now, then 60 days of nuclear talks. We are trading hard limits for a promise to keep talking.
2) Missiles and proxies are gone. The leaked 14-point MOU (Mehr, IRNA) keeps Iran's missile program and its support for Hezbollah off the agenda entirely. The standing critique of the JCPOA was that it left those out. This deal does the same and calls it progress.
3) No handover of enriched uranium. Under the JCPOA Iran shipped almost its entire stockpile out of the country. Here Iran keeps roughly 400 kg of 60% material. Its fate is punted into the 60-day window. That is a moratorium, not a rollback.
4) The enrichment pause is unsettled. Trump wants 20 years. Iran floated 5 (CNN). The JCPOA locked in 15 years of caps with IAEA cameras and 24-day inspection access. We have none of that on paper yet.
5) We pay up front. Oil sanctions lifted. Around $24 to $25 billion in frozen assets released, part of it immediately. Reconstruction figures up to $300 billion floated in Iranian press. In return Iran gives an interim ceasefire and a promise.
6) Hormuz reopens on Iran's terms. Araghchi says the strait will not return to how it ran before the war. Service fees, Iranian arrangements. This war handed Iran more leverage over the strait, not less.
We went to war and may walk away with less than Obama got in 2015. Caveat: these terms come from leaks and Iranian media. Nothing is signed. But if it signs as described, it is the weaker deal.
@KanwalSibal@sreemoytalukdar So true. A very badly concieved war in terms of objective & timeline. The war is directly responsible for increased hardship across the globe. Now, the US is desperately looking for a face saving off ramp. Nothing gained by the US, but a great loss for it, & the rest of the world
OPEN to US warships too?
In the JCPOA Iran gave a firm commitment never to acquire nuclear weapons.
This commitment was made not only to the US but the P5 plus Germany.
And to the UN as the agreement was ratified by the Security Council.
It thus became a commitment to the international community as a whole.
Iran could have walked out of the NPT in recent years but hasn’t done so.
The present deal puts the nuclear issue in the second phase of negotiation.
For Trump the nuclear issue has been central to the war.
It has been relegated to a secondary place , with the primacy given to opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait was open before the US triggered its closure by attacking Iran.
A totally botched up operation that has severely damaged peace and security in the Gulf and economically punished countries which had nothing to do this US/ Israel initiated war.
There is a crying need for all countries to come together& revitalise the UN, which is practically defunct now, due to the US backing off from it, & disregarding it, before initiating any action. This is troublesome, specially since this institution was built actively by the US.

@jawharsircar, a retired IAS officer said that in the all the years, “I have not seen such angst & total-no-confidence against the govt,". “the present spontaneous outpouring of public anger is against this unchecked overbearing attitude of the favoured few & the corrupt".
@jawharsircar has on TV accepted that extortion & corruption within @AITCofficial was pointed out since 2021, but no action was taken. He subesquently resigned from his @AITCofficial RS seat over RG Kar Medical College rape & murder case, in 2024. Excerpts- resignation letter....
@KBanerjee_AITC today on TV blamed @abhishekaitc, his arrogance, & his decision to involve I-PAC in TMC affairs as the reason for the sorry state of @AITCofficial in this election, & the subsequent implosion within the party; an opposition party based only on ldr @MamataOfficial.
“I have suffered patiently for a month since the terrible incident at R.G. Kar Hospital & was hoping for your direct intervention with the agitating junior doctors,". It has not happened, & the ever punitive steps that govt is taking now are too little & quite late,”

@jitengajaria@DuryoPras Sad reality, but @MamataOfficial is solely responsible for being subjected to this sorry state. Her arrogance, her ambition, her unrealistic appeasement, and her blind love for @abhishekaitc brought her to this state; her body language in the INDI meet was that of a lost soul.
Kolkata Metro work was stalled for 15 years.
The only reason was that if the metro project had been completed, Narendra Modi would have inaugurated it, and Mamata Banerjee did not want that. Because the central government is building it.
Yes, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, which was working on the Kolkata Metro's rail line, had to build a bypass over a bypass, but that required a 15-day traffic stoppage.
15 years ago, RVNL sent a letter to the local administration asking them to stop traffic for 15 days. The TMC government did not stop the traffic!
4 more letters were sent, but traffic was not stopped.
After that, RBNL had to approach the High Court. The HC immediately ordered the West Bengal government to halt traffic so that the Metro project could be completed.
But Mamata Banerjee's stubbornness led her to appeal the High Court's decision to the Supreme Court.
When the Supreme Court ruled that traffic must be halted for 15 days, Mamata Banerjee filed a review petition.
And most surprisingly, no media outlet even reported the dirty game being played in West Bengal just to prevent Modi from inaugurating the project.
Millions of people in her own state were wasting their time stuck in traffic jams, but Mamata Banerjee's pride was paramount.
Then came the elections, and this issue was widely discussed.
Then the Mamata government was gone, and a project that had been stalled for 15 years was completed in just 15 days.
That's why I say that India's opposition is the biggest enemy of the country's development.
