Incredibly excited to share this news about how Chautauqua Institution is investing in our beloved lake. May it lead to solutions that lift up our entire region!
The Jefferson Project at Lake George is expanding its statewide leadership role in the study of harmful algal blooms and other water-quality threats this summer with a new $1 million research project on Chautauqua Lake in Chautauqua County. https://t.co/1yc0BV5SAU
Just announced: Jefferson Project at Lake George Expands Landmark Water Quality Research with New $1 Million Project on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York @chq@rpi@RPInews@IBMResearch@FUND4LakeGeorge@LakeGeorgeAssn https://t.co/AeuYFsS8Ak
The next phase of work began in May, with researchers spending a week on the lake to collect samples that will be analyzed by Jefferson Project scientists to learn more about invasive species and the impact of mitigation efforts, including the use of herbicides.
The investment will fund the 2021 work of The Jefferson Project (@JPLakeGeorge), which launched a partnership with the region last year that resulted in new data and information about how lake water exchanges between the north and south basin.
We're pleased this morning to announce the investment of $1M in research initiatives to support the continuing development of scientific knowledge of Chautauqua Lake ecology to inform the region’s comprehensive, science-based plan for lake conservation. https://t.co/Wog8WVik4Z
