The problem with obsessing over $SPX $SPY $QQQ $DJI is that most voters don't live in markets.

They live in the real economy. They buy groceries, pay rent, fill gas tanks, pay insurance premiums, and wonder why their paycheck doesn't stretch as far as it used to.

We'll see how Trump's fixation on stock market performance works out in the Midterms. He seems to have forgotten that during his first term, constantly celebrating market highs didn't exactly deliver a happy ending.

During COVID, while markets were being praised as proof everything was wonderful, America saw food bank lines stretching for miles. In some places, demand exceeded levels seen during the Great Depression.

A rising stock market may impress Wall Street. It doesn't necessarily impress families struggling with everyday expenses.

At some point, politicians have to decide whether they're governing for brokerage statements or for voters. The two are not always the same thing.
