BJP goons utter shocking words while BRUTALLY ATTACKING a sitting MP - if this is not a premeditated act of political violence, then what is?

The people of Bengal are watching.
First came the allegations of stolen mandates. Now comes a climate of fear, intimidation and lawlessness where political hooligans appear emboldened to take the law into their own hands.

Bengal deserves better than this descent into chaos.

Listen to the Kolkata Police personnel themselves.

Despite repeated requests, they are flagging INADEQUATE SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS and openly admitting that even their own lives were at risk.

This raises some serious questions:

▶️ Who allowed such glaring security lapses despite repeated requests?
▶️ Under whose watch did political violence escalate to this extent?
▶️ Why were adequate preventive measures not put in place?
▶️ How much worse could this situation have become?
▶️ What were the true intentions of the BJP goons deployed on the spot?

When warnings are ignored, security is compromised and violence unfolds in broad daylight, accountability cannot be evaded.

International Santal Council, a private organisation, invited Hon’ble President to the 9th International Adivasi Santal Conference in Siliguri.

After Advanced Security Liaison, district administration flagged in writing to the President’s Secretariat that the organiser appeared inadequately prepared; the concern was also conveyed telephonically (For relevant letters and photographs, see my related facebook post)

The President’s Secretariat advance team visited on 05.03.26, was apprised of the lack of arrangements, yet the programme continued as scheduled.

Hon’ble President was received and seen off by Mayor Siliguri Municipal Corporation, DM Darjeeling and CP Siliguri Police Commissionerate strictly as per the approved lineup shared by the President’s Secretariat. CM, West Bengal was not part of the lineup or the dais plan. No protocol lapse happened on part of district administration.

BJP is disrespecting and misusing the highest chair in the country for its own party agenda. Most unfortunate.

শ্রী শ্রী হরিচাঁদ ঠাকুর ও শ্রী শ্রী গুরুচাঁদ ঠাকুরের প্রদর্শিত পথে মতুয়া মহাসংঘ বাংলার সামাজিক সংস্কার ও নবজাগরণের এক অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ। দলিত ও অবহেলিত মানুষের অধিকার রক্ষা, শিক্ষার প্রসার এবং জাতপাতহীন এক মানবিক সমাজ গড়ার যে আন্দোলন এই মহাসংঘ শুরু করেছিল, বড়মা সারাজীবন সেই আদর্শকেই লালন করেছেন। তাঁর নেতৃত্বে মতুয়া মহাসংঘ সামাজিক সাম্য ও ভ্রাতৃত্বের এক স্তম্ভ হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

বড়মার সঙ্গে আমার সম্পর্ক ছিল ব্যক্তিগত, আত্মিক। তাঁর মাতৃস্নেহের পরশ আমি নিবিড়ভাবে পেয়েছিলাম - এ আমার জীবনের পরম পাওয়া। তাঁর চিকিৎসাসহ যেকোনো দরকারে তিনি যখনই আমাকে ডেকেছেন, আমি ছুটে গেছি তাঁর কাছে। এটা আমার গর্ব, আমাদের সরকার তাঁর অসামান্য সামাজিক অবদানের জন্য বড়মা'কে রাজ্যের সর্বোচ্চ সম্মান 'বঙ্গবিভূষণ'-এ ভূষিত করেছিল।

শুধু তাই নয়, মতুয়া সমাজের সার্বিক কল্যাণের জন্যও আমরা নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছি।

মতুয়া বিকাশ পর্ষদ ও নমঃশূদ্র বিকাশ পর্ষদ গঠন করা হয়েছে। পূর্ণব্রহ্ম শ্রী শ্রী হরিচাঁদ ঠাকুরকে সম্মান জানিয়ে তাঁর জন্মদিনে সরকারী ছুটি ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।

ঠাকুরনগরে, ঠাকুরবাড়ির কাছাকাছি হরিচাঁদ-গুরুচাঁদ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় করা হয়েছে। কৃষ্ণনগরে গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে হরিচাঁদ গুরুচাঁদ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এক্সটেনশন ক্যাম্পাস। গাইঘাটায় পি আর ঠাকুর সরকারি কলেজ করা হয়েছে।

পানীয় জলের জন্য হাবড়া-গাইঘাটা – ‘জলতৃপ্তি’ জল প্রকল্প করা হয়েছে। ইছামতী নদীর ওপর মুড়িঘাটা ব্রিজ ও বলদেঘাটা খালের ওপর কুঠিপাড়া নাগবাড়ী ব্রিজ তৈরী করা হয়েছে। গাইঘাটায় নতুন ITI ও Polytechnic কলেজ করা হয়েছে। গাইঘাটায় হয়েছে কিষাণ মান্ডি। ঠাকুরনগরের বিখ্যাত ফুলবাজার ও ফুল-চাষীদের কথা মাথায় রেখে ওখানে ফুলমান্ডি করা হচ্ছে। ঠাকুরনগরকে ঢেলে সাজানো হয়েছে।

কিন্তু অত্যন্ত পরিতাপের বিষয়, কেন্দ্রের বিজেপি সরকারের চক্রান্তে আজ এক অস্থির ও বিভ্রান্তিকর পরিস্থিতিতে মতুয়া ভাই-বোনদের ঠেলে দেওয়া হয়েছে। নাগরিকত্ব দেবার নামে রাজনীতির খেলা চলছে। তাঁদের পরিচয় নিয়েই প্রশ্ন তোলা হচ্ছে। SIR করে ইচ্ছে করে ভোটার তালিকা থেকে তাঁদের বাদ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। যাঁরা পুরুষানুক্রমে এদেশের নাগরিক, যাঁদের ভোটে সরকার নির্বাচিত হয়, আজ তাঁদের নতুন করে 'নাগরিকত্ব' দেওয়ার নামে অনিশ্চয়তার মুখে দাঁড় করানো হচ্ছে।

এই অন্যায় আমরা মেনে নেবো না। আমার মতুয়া ভাইবোন সহ বাংলার মানুষের অধিকার কেড়ে নেওয়ার যে চেষ্টা চলছে, তার বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের লড়াই চলবে। বাংলার মানুষের গায়ে কোনো আঁচ পড়তে আমরা দেব না। এই বিশেষ দিনে এ আমার অঙ্গীকার।

প্রয়াত মুকুল রায় তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের প্রতিষ্ঠা-লগ্ন থেকে দলের জন্য প্রাণপাত করেছেন। তিনি কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী হয়েছিলেন, দলের সর্বস্তরে তাঁর গ্রহণযোগ্যতা ছিল। পরে তিনি ভিন্ন পথে যান, আবার ফিরেও আসেন। বাংলার রাজনীতিতে তাঁর অবদান এবং সাংগঠনিক দক্ষতার কথা ভোলার নয়। দলমত নির্বিশেষে তাঁর অভাব অনুভব করবে রাজনৈতিক মহল।

Today marks a moment of profound loss for us all with the passing of veteran political leader Shri Mukul Roy.

From the very foundation of the Trinamool Congress, he remained associated with the party, contributing significantly through his sharp political acumen and exceptional organisational skills. His role in strengthening the party structure during its formative years will always be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.

I paid my tributes to him at the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and later visited his residence in Kanchrapara to stand beside his grieving family. Joined by thousands of leaders, party workers, supporters, admirers, and long-time associates, I participated in the solemn funeral procession to the Halisahar Maha Shmashana, where his last rites were performed with reverence.

As we bid him a final farewell, we honour a life devoted to public service. His legacy will continue to endure in the foundations he helped strengthen and in the many lives he influenced. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
