🚨| David Ornstein’s latest assessment suggests Arsenal’s pursuit of Julián Álvarez should not be dismissed simply because the Gunners recently explored a blockbuster move for Vinícius Júnior.🇦🇷
Arsenal were prepared to fund an extremely expensive package for Vinícius, demonstrating the club has the financial capacity to make another major investment if the right opportunity presents itself. Reports at the time said Arsenal submitted an opening offer worth £120m plus £10m in add-ons for Vinícius.
But there is an important distinction:
Having the money does not mean Arsenal will spend it.
The club's approach is reportedly based on whether the overall deal makes sense transfer fee, wages, player profile and sporting value.
That is where Álvarez becomes particularly interesting.
Arsenal have renewed their efforts to sign the Atlético Madrid forward and reports indicate they have made an offer of more than £100m. Álvarez's situation has also shifted after Barcelona cooled their pursuit, potentially creating a greater opening for Arsenal.
However, there is still no guarantee that a deal happens. Atlético have a huge release clause and have been reluctant to sell, while Álvarez's own preference remains a crucial factor.
The message from Ornstein is essentially this: Arsenal can afford Álvarez but they won't buy him simply because they can.
If the numbers and sporting case make sense, they can move.
If they don't, Arsenal will walk away.
And with the transfer window approaching its final stages, this is one to watch.
#WhiteSox deadline grade: C+.
Like the process on Castillo.
Brazoban is a good add.
Not sure how much Doyle helps you in 2026.
Bart is an upgrade, but there were better additions available.
My main point of contention is that it feels like the teams chasing them did more.
🚨 EXCL: Arsenal exploring move to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid. #AFC interest early stage + clubs not yet in talks but idea approved at all levels. Much rests on contract process as no breakthrough yet & #RMFC do not want free exit @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/qYdS5vlfE6
The Bucks intel from this piece:
Tyler Herro might be re-routed in a trade. Pistons, among others are interested.
^Pistons are noted to have dangled Isaiah Stewart, Ron Holland II, Duncan Robinson and/or draft picks for Herro.
Not at all surprising or new news, tbh:
Myles Turner was understanding that if Giannis was traded he might be flipped.
Kyle Kuzma is speculated as a trade-candidate as the Bucks tear down a bit.
🚨 Thomas Tuchel says England stars WILL be allowed to complete transfers during the World Cup, with the likes of Elliot Anderson a top target of Man City
🗣️ "If anyone has the chance to complete a transfer, we will not stand in the way, but it has to align with our schedule and our goals, which is to be focused and prepare for matches. The last day before the match & the second last day, not.
🗣️ "Until now, no player approached me. The doctor is ready to take any medical if needed! We are always happy to help to have clarity around the player."
