READ: John Platzky-Miller traces, through theory, transnational links to argue that over 2015-16, student protests erupted across Brazilian and South African schools and universities, challenging conditions through strikes and intellectual production.https://t.co/aJz8SDNmoE
@nescio13 Three main come to mind: Callinicos (2009) Imperialism and Global PolEcon;
John Smith (2016) Imperialism in C21st;
Utsa & Prabhat Patnaik (2016) Theory of Imperialism. See debate about the latter here: https://t.co/F4fhISBUKN
@OUPPhilosophy Nice :) Shathley Q Abrahams did similar in a doctoral dissertation at the University of Cape Town in 2009, entitled "Older than Language: Comics as Philosophical Praxis and Heuristic for a Philosophical Canon"
📚🎙️🇬🇧 I’ll be speaking with students at the University of Manchester, UK, tomorrow morning - 11:00 - 13:00 (SA Time) 🙏🏾 - hoping to share the recording of this closed virtual session with all of you afterwards

Great to see a nod to our "Questioning 'Western Philosophy': Philosophical, Historical, & Historiographical Challenges" conference from the Chair of the Faculty Board, Prof. Ursula Coope!
Read more about the conference, which took place in April, here: https://t.co/7hgKWfouJn
@alexxdouglas @LeaMundi @NarsiMarsi@philosopher1923 Ah, this conversation would've been a great fit at the QWP conference - hopefully we can pursue it in person at some point :)
@alexxdouglas @LeaMundi @NarsiMarsi@philosopher1923 Partially, but challenging even idea of 'Westerners'. You might want to take a look at the other article mentioned way earlier in thread - a bit more detailed on related issues, though not Medieval specifically - https://t.co/CkFql3Tgqq
@alexxdouglas @LeaMundi @NarsiMarsi Important here to keep visible the diff between v generalist/'popular audience' sources & relatively specialist lit (even if just one layer down, as introductions to subfields/periods like medieval). Broad Histories of 'WP' do tell ±similar narratives, which is what's visualised
@alexxdouglas @LeaMundi @NarsiMarsi Which histories? Egs:
Sabine (1937) History of Pol Thought
O'Connor (1965) Critical History of WP
Magee (1987) The Great Philosophers (+more complicatedly, 1998 Story of Philosophy)
Warren (2009) Unconventional History of WP
Warburton (2011) A Little History of Philosophy
..etc
** Panel 7: Epistemology **
16h00: @JPlatzkyMiller (Shirking Knowledge: Forms of Ignorance and the idea of ‘Western Philosophy’)
16h30: Allan M. Hillani (Savage Hobbes: Anthropological Philosophy Against Philosophical Anthropology)
@SomeStingray You might be interested in this piece we just published - https://t.co/3aglN0f3r1 and our upcoming conference where we'll have speakers directly address this question: https://t.co/mk7aWrFD3q
