#Banksy in the #JQ Defaced by Posters 😔
Last night, a group of masked people plastered posters all over the protective covering around the Banksy in the JQ 😦
Massive credit to the @JQBID team though — they were on it first thing this morning and the posters are already being removed 🙏🏽
Thank you to everyone who helps keep the Jewellery Quarter the gem that it is 💎
last night some masked up people pulled up in a car and fly-postered over the Banksy in the Jewellery Quarter 😕
but a huge shoutout to @JQBID whose team have bene on it this morning to remove the posters ❤️
DATE FOR THE DIARY
The Jewellery Quarter Christmas Light Switch On returns on Friday, November 14 (5pm to 7pm) — and this year, the big button press and accompanying whizz-bangs-oohs-and-arrs are turning ten years old. A full decade of festive sparkle, rooftop fireworkery and community cheer will light up Brum's brightest neighbourhood once more.
Taking place on Golden Square, the evening begins with live music from The Black Jeans and Elle-J Walters, whose sets will transform the Quarter’s cobbles into a mini winter festival. Then, at 6pm, a mystery guest will hit the big red button, illuminating over 100 jewellery-themed lights and two towering 30-foot Christmas trees before that now-legendary fireworks display bursts into life from the rooftop of JQ Modern.
As ever, the local independents will be out in force, fuelling the fun with mulled everything, street food and glittering shopfronts that prove Brum’s oldest (but coolest) district still throws one of its freshest parties. Caribbean crowd-pleasers Esmie’s will keep bellies warm while Golden Square becomes the city’s most festive postcode.
Free, family-friendly, and festooned with ten years of memories, this is the official start to Christmas — and a reminder that nobody does sparkle like @BirminghamJQ.
