Jim Kerr was arrested earlier today at Universal Ostrich Farm under section 129 of the Criminal Code and section 35 of the Health of Animals Act. These charges are without merit. For those concerned, I spoke with him while he was in custody and confirmed that he will be released shortly on a Form 10 (Promise to Appear).

It is deeply troubling to see the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) taking such measures and involving the RCMP in ways intended to restrict access and limit public visibility at the farm.

What is particularly disturbing about the ostrich crisis is the digging in and doubling/tripling down by govt & police despite so many REASONABLE reasons NOT to do so. It shows that govt will never admit wrongdoing. They’ll scorch the earth before backing down. This is power in its most evil form.
