If you still think Tesla is just a car company, you didnโt do your homework.
The next book of Tesla is Optimus, and the scale of what Tesla is planning is hard to comprehend for a lot of people.
Tesla right now is behind the scenes building a general-purpose humanoid robot designed to do anything a human can do, like factory work, household chores, dangerous jobs, medical assistance, and even work beyond Earth. And the Tesla team is going to be mass-producing them very soon.
Hereโs the plan that we know so far:
โข Fremont Factory: Tesla converted the former Model S/X production space into its first dedicated Optimus production line. Gen 3 low-volume production is expected to begin here, with the long-term goal of reaching capacity for up to 1 MILLION Optimus robots per year.
โข Giga Texas: Tesla plans an even larger dedicated Optimus factory designed to become the real high-volume production engine. The long-term goal is capacity for up to 10 MILLION Optimus robots per year.
โข First deployment: Tesla will use Optimus inside its own factories for tasks like material handling, sorting, and other repetitive work. This gives Tesla extremely valuable, millions of hours of real-world training data.
โข External deployment: As production, reliability, and intelligence improve, Tesla plans to expand Optimus to other businesses and eventually consumers.
โข Long-term price target: Around $20Kโ$30K per robot once production reaches massive scale.
Think about what Tesla is trying to do here.
First thousands.
Then hundreds of thousands.
Then millions.
Then potentially tens of millions of Optimus robots being produced every single year.
And every robot can continue learning and improving each other through AI and real-world data.
This is why I keep saying people will eventually look back and laugh or even be surprised that Tesla was once considered a โcarโ company.
Cars were just the beginning.
FSD taught Tesla how to build real-world AI.
Robotaxi turned that AI into autonomous transportation.
Optimus is going to take that intelligence, give it a human-like body, and brings AI into the physical world.
And I believe Teslaโs manufacturing experience is its biggest advantage.
Building a few impressive humanoid robots is one thing, but figuring out how to manufacture millions of useful, reliable robots at a cost ordinary people and businesses can afford is an entirely different challenge that Tesla is taking on. And the team has the battle scars to do it the best.
Thatโs the real bet Iโm putting all my $ on.
Fremont โ 1 million Optimus robots/year.
Giga Texas โ 10 million Optimus robots/year.
And Elonโs long-term vision of a future where robots eventually outnumber humans, perform much of the worldโs physical labor, dramatically increasing productivity, and creating an era of abundance.
The next 12-18 months will be extremely important bc the Tesla team will begin to show whether Tesla can scale humanoid robots the way it scaled electric vehicles, batteries, and FSD.
If and when Tesla succeeds, the entire conversation around what this company is and what it could become will change forever.
Teslaโs future is so much more than just electric carsโฆ itโs AI, autonomy, energy, and robots. And I believe Optimus will become the BIGGEST business of them all.

Falcon 9 tops out at ~20โ23 V2 Mini sats per flight, adding just a few Tbps capacity). V3 sats are much larger, heavier, and more powerful with 10ร downlink (~1 Tbps each) + 24ร uplink, but too big for Falcon. Starship will haul ~50โ60 V3s per launch, adding ~60 Tbps (20ร+ more capacity).

A mass driver on the Moon.
The logic:
~ A terawatt is still small. To go three more orders of magnitude requires lunar manufacturing.
~ Build solar panels, radiators and potentially chips directly on the Moon.
~ The Moon has no atmosphere and one-sixth Earth's gravity.
~ That means you can launch AI satellites into deep space using an electromagnetic rail gun. No rocket needed.
This is essentially a linear electric motor that throws satellites into space at low cost.
The Mars mission is already underway.
The Moon is the staging ground for everything that comes after.
