First, the Affordable Care Act does not provide “healthcare.” It provides insurance through private companies, the same ones your party claims to support. It is a market-based system, not government-run.

Second, the “hundreds of billions” you are talking about are not gifts to insurance companies. They are premium subsidies and cost-sharing payments that go toward lowering what people actually pay for coverage. Without them, millions of Americans would lose insurance overnight because they could not afford the premiums. Those payments are reimbursements for discounts that insurers are legally required to provide to working families.

Third, your idea of “sending the money directly to the people so they can buy their own healthcare” shows you do not even understand what insurance is. Healthcare is not something you buy off a shelf. Insurance spreads risk across millions of people, which is what keeps it affordable. Give everyone a check and the healthy will skip coverage, the sick will get priced out, and the entire system collapses. That is basic math.

And no, Obamacare is not “the worst healthcare anywhere.” It cut the uninsured rate in half, banned lifetime caps, protected people with pre-existing conditions, and let young adults stay on their parents’ plans.

Every form of insurance, health, auto, home, even flood, is subsidized in some way because that is how risk sharing works. Your plan would destroy the market, drive up premiums for everyone, and send millions of Americans back to being uninsured.

You are not fixing anything. You are just proving once again that you do not understand how anything works.
