This work builds on some of the research I did for my MSc Volcanology thesis at the University of Bristol, and is my first time being on the author list of a paper! ๐ฅณ ๐งต 3/3

Check out our new paper in @WeAreVolcanica! Led by @HannahMBuckland, we investigate the precursory activity in the run up to the c.7600 yr BP Mazama (Crater Lake) eruption. Textural and compositional analysis of deposits suggest there were at least 3 precursory eruptions. ๐งต1/3
At least one of these precursory events tapped a separate magma lens. Our work supports growing findings that eruption of large magma volumes requires the pre- or syn-eruptive amalgamation of multiple melt lenses. ๐งต2/3
Here we go for day 2 of #pint24 and we have our very own @JRawlingsVolc speaking about volcano diamonds! ๐๐
There's still time to get your ticket for tomorrow at https://t.co/oyz4NegMsv! ๐บ

Next Tuesday I will be presenting a talk as part of Southampton's Pint of Science week! Come along to learn about how diamonds form, where they come from and how we mine them!๐

Final day of the undergraduate first year geology fieldtrip to Pembrokeshire. Students completed their summative mapping exercise around St David's Head. @morgan_bugler@OceanEarthUoS
Fifth day for undergraduates on the Tenby geological field trip. We introduced them to their mapping area and lithologies ready for tomorrow. @JRawlingsVolc@OceanEarthUoS
Day 4 of the University of Southampton first year undergraduate field trip to Pembrokeshire. Students spent the day at Marloes Sands learning how to complete sedimentary logs.
Had a fantastic time at the Southampton Science and Engineering Festival yesterday demonstrating different types of volcanic products and eruptions to the public ๐ #SOTSEF#BSW24
Had an awesome time at #VMSG2024 this week, presenting some of my current PhD research on kimberlite ascent. It was great to catch up with fellow volcanologists and be back in Bristol, where I studied for my MSc!
Days 3 & 4 of the University of Southampton Tenerife fieldtrip, logging pyroclastic flows, falls and ignimbrites in the Montana Magua area, and investigating volcaniclastic deposits and pahoehoe lava flows at Roques de Garcia.
Another great day for @OceanEarthUoS in Tenerife. Today we discussed the Temo Massif, looked at anakatamite and investigated the structure of an A'a flow. @JRawlingsVolc
Day 1 of the Tenerife undergraduate field trip with the University of Southampton, students had their first view of the spectacular Mount Teide, visited the striking deposits of La Tarta and learnt about the history of Las Caรฑadas Caldera. ๐
