TODAY: Meta $META will sell excess AI compute, competing with the biggest cloud companies like Amazon $AMZN , Microsoft $MSFT , and Google $GOOGL .
Because of this Nebius $NBIS dropped 17%. In my opinion this is an overreaction in the neocloud sector and people are interpreting the news wrong. Months ago the fear was that Nebius had a lot demand and not enough AI power, today the fear is that we have more power than demand and that Meta will use it to their advantage. This is a win-win situation for both $META and $NBIS.
With Iridium, they’re adding something they didn’t really have:
A mature business generating recurring cash flow.
The number that caught my attention wasn’t the $8B acquisition price.
It that Iridium generated around $872M in revenue last year.
That’s almost the size of Rocket Lab’s entire current business.
Iridium also generated roughly $495M of EBITDA.
That’s real operating cash generation.
Rocket Lab isn’t just buying satellites.
They’re buying a business that already prints cash.
$RKLB 🤝 $IRDM
Rocket Lab to Acquire Iridium in Historic Deal, Creating A Fully Vertically
Integrated Space Powerhouse Primed for Growth
Rocket Lab will acquire all the
outstanding shares of Iridium common stock for $54 per share in a cash and stock
transaction. This represents an enterprise value for Iridium of approximately $8.0
billion.
I first bought $RKLB at $22.27/share because I believed Peter Beck wanted to build something much bigger than a launch company. After reading today’s acquisition announcement, I actually feel more confident in that thesis.
Here’s what stood out to me...🧵⬇️
@jrouldz Hey, I would love to know, how you do it to hold a stock for 8+ years, and not sell at lets say 500% and buy other stocks. Even if the thesis doesn’t change, the market goes bearish.I want to integrate that knowledge you have as someone who is a rookie (2 years investing) Thanks!
