@AfricaCDC. Your reporting is becoming problematic than Ebola itself. Just to remind you that Uganda is a sovereign country don't bundle us with other countries. Uganda has 8 reported cases all on treatment. All contacts have been traced. This to remind you that your an African Union institution that respect member states. @_AfricanUnion@NuursViews
I have received my brother, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, at State House Entebbe together with his delegation, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.
I warmly welcome him and wish him a fruitful stay as we continue to strengthen the historic brotherly ties and cooperation between our two countries.
Today at National Livestock Resources Research Institute in Namulonge, I commissioned Uganda’s first locally developed anti-tick vaccine, NAROVAC-ATV1. This is a lasting solution to tick-borne diseases that have affected our cattle keepers for a long time. The cow now kills the tick.
This innovation reduces reliance on toxic acaricides and lowers the cost of livestock production. It is part of Uganda’s movement into science-led transformation. I congratulate our scientists and reaffirm government support to strengthen research for national development.
I spent the day in Gulu City attending a homecoming ceremony in honour of His Lordship Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo. I thank him for his service to Uganda and salute him for three things: his integrity in public service, his contribution to strengthening the judiciary, and his role in promoting unity and reconciliation in Northern Uganda.
I also reminded wananchi that Uganda’s transformation will come from households engaging in wealth creation. Through intensive agriculture and enterprises such as poultry, dairy, coffee, fruits and fish farming, even families with small pieces of land can generate income.
I have arrived in Arusha, Tanzania, to attend the 25th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State of the East African Community. I look forward to fruitful deliberations with my fellow leaders on strengthening regional integration, expanding trade and advancing the shared prosperity and security of our people.
In Busongora North, I emphasised that the first matafari of the NRM is peace. Uganda was destroyed by bad politics based on tribe and religion. Such politics cannot build a strong party, strong institutions or a strong army. NRM rejected sectarianism and built a national party and strong institutions, which is how we achieved peace. Peace comes from clean and good politics.
The second matafari is development, but development alone is not enough. You can have a good road, but if there is no sugar in the house, poverty remains. That is why we emphasise wealth creation at household level through the four-acre model and proper enterprise selection. As we move toward the 15th January elections, I call upon all Ugandans to come out in large numbers and vote NRM to protect peace and consolidate the gains we have made.
I thank the people of Mukono for the warm welcome. At Naggalama, I explained that leadership is about identifying the real needs of the people and working towards solutions. Programmes like PDM depend on leaders to follow up and manage them properly. When leaders undermine government efforts or fail to supervise implementation, the people suffer. I therefore appealed to the youth: talk about vibe, yes, but also attend meetings, engage in these programmes, and vote for leaders who deliver, not those who only talk. Tomorrow in Buikwe, I will address the issue of land.
This will be epic…as usual anyway!! Just like it would be around the fire place. Jazz with JAJJA @KagutaMuseveni.
