45 years ago today, Yale's Ron Darling & St. John's Frank Viola matched up in the greatest college pitching duel ever.
Both starters made it through 11 scoreless innings.
Darling didn't allow a hit until the 12th inning but St. Johns won 1-0.
From @TheAthletic: Juan Soto should have been a Yankee for the rest of his career, our columnist writes, but it did not turn out that way. Two seasons after his exit, are the they better without him?

@SleeperMets Shut the fuck up dude! You don’t know ball! Stearns is an idiot but these guys are all ready and need major league experience. Season is already cooked, you gotta bring them up and see if they can help the team!
@SNY_Mets@chelsea_janes The only track record Trevor Story has is getting injured! This is a horrible idea! The Mets also have like 20 infielders on the roster, mostly playing out of position. How about we dump some of the horrible pitchers for a couple bag of balls and call up some of the young guys!
