The system also provides data on quality indicators through the use of BABIES matrix to determine which intervention package would have greatest impact in preventing these deaths. The system will also register births to use them as denominators for mortality measures.
Jordan Stillbirths & Neonatal Deaths Surveillance System (J-SANDS) is a new registration system for capturing comprehensive and consistent data and information on the number and causes of neonatal deaths and stillbirths.
As well as a report summary about the total number and percentages of causes of stillbirths and neonatal deaths during antenatal and postnatal periods during a certain period of time.
A new feature was created into the JSANDS system called โREPORTโ, it allows users to obtain a full report about a certain hospital within a certain period including mother and newborn sociodemographic and delivery clinical data.
The purpose of this new addition is to keep the healthcare team in the hospitals aware of the rate of stillbirths and neonatal deaths in order to be able to intervene as early as possible.
A new indicator was added to the list of indicators that was already developed in JSANDS. This new indicator shows the weekly stillbirths and weekly neonatal deaths.
UNICEF follow up visit to KAUH
Dr. Eresso AGA, the Health Manager from the UNICEF office in Amman and Ms Buthaina Alkhateeb visited one of the JSANDS participating hospitals on the 26th of Feb 2020 as a follow up visit to monitor the progress of the project and implementation
The JSANDS project mid-term workshop was held in Irbid city on the 27th of November, 2019. A total of 150 participants including directors of the five implementing hospitals, pediatricians, obstetrics and gynecologists, senior medical residents, registered nurses, and midwives.
JSANDS was developed as a secure on-line data entry system to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate data on stillbirths, neonatal deaths and their causes.

JSANDS team has conducted a training workshop at Al-Karak Governmental Hospital for the death review committee to train them on how to fill the JSANDS death review forms and how to conduct death reviewing meeting
JSANDS team visited Al-Karak Governmental Hospital on 23/07/2019, during the visit four PCs and 4G Wireless Routers were installed at different departments including the NICU, Pediatric, labor and quality management department.
