Did you know the key driver of future climate changes is CO2 and the gas emitted depends on: population size, economic activity, lifestyle, energy use, land use patterns, technology, and climate policy
#Lesson12
The idea of stabilization wedges needs to be more widespread in my opinion. I'm confident that most of the population have no idea what they are, or how they can help us. I believe this would be a wise investment in efforts to reduce our CO2 emissions and take a step forward.
The final lecture of this course was a great way to wrap everything up. Reduction of CO2 emissions, or things will not change and only get worse. Climate change is real and can no longer be ignored #Lesson12#climatechange
Hopefully this global pandemic will help decrease our CO2 emissions. Human activity is the main reason why CO2 concentrations are at their highest they have been in 400,000 years!
I found using the visual calculations to show how greenhouse gases affect surface temperature was outstanding. Earth: -18 vs 15. Mars: -50 vs -50. Venus: 55 vs 500. Great way to see how CO2 plays a role in surface temperature #Lesson11
@LuisChu93366843 That is exactly why CO is known as the silent killer. Here is some interesting info on CO if you are interested! https://t.co/DL7zNG3gsb
Speaking of air pollution, check out how much the current pandemic has had an effect on our pollution levels in many countries! Hopefully the world realizes that change needs to happen #Lesson10#Pollution#GlobalEffects

@matt_stuart20 It seems like everything has been relatively decreasing, with the exception of oil spills which has stayed somewhat constant. It is encouraging to see!
I had never heard of the Emory River incident from Tennessee Valley Authority coal power plant in Kingston, TN. It release over 1 billion gallons of coal fly ash! #waterpollution#airpollution
I did not realize hydraulic fracking has such a negative impact on the groundwater resources. This can cause serious damage and contamination to fresh water used as drinking water or for crop irrigation #Lesson10#waterpollution
For those that may have forgotten about the Lac-Mégantic rail disaster, here is an article with all the details. Truly a tragedy in Canadian history. https://t.co/B4fZwWMY5y
