@nobunobunobune The opening of Aeon, and then the subsequent expansion of Aeon has more to do with the decline around Takaoka station. Takaoka also isn't a "destination" like Toyama or Kanazawa, so decline is natural given minimal tourists to spend money in Takaoka.

Got a 21 day green class pass in 2017 for about ¥70000. Probably got about ¥60-700000 value out of it. That did include some quite long shinkansen rides that would have made more sense to fly if not on pass
