@ShaneSchaetzel Mystery Babylon is ruled by a form of leadership after John wrote Revelation (the beast is an 8th king and is one of the 7). Peter wrote 1 Peter and references Babylon in 1 Pet. 5:13, which scholars take as code for pagan Rome, and Jesus destroys mystery Babylon at His return.

@ShaneSchaetzel Heresy is not a sufficient ncondition for apostasy, but it is a necessary condition. The interpretation I reference isn't mine, but is the historicist interpretation. Whether those that understand the seven hilled City of Rev. 17 to be papal Rome are right will soon be evident.
