@JeffreyCarlisle -- Can you help me understand your player ratings eval process? When a manager has their team play their best World Cup game in their entire history, shouldn't that be a 10!? Same thing for Balogun -- 1st player w/ 2+ goals in a WC Game in almost 100 years = 10.
@DanBarreiroKFAN -- Hate to blame refereeing, but when one team has 2x more fouls and is the less aggressive team you can't say the referees are not impacting the game.
Would only add an extra week on to the season at most, but the knockout & 1st rounds would be so electric. Please use your powers to push for this and make it happen! 🙏
@BizNasty2point0@ryanwhitney6@RussoHockey - NEW NHL PLAYOFF FORMAT -- NHL should adopt NBA format - 1.5 weeks of playoffs is a Bo3 series b/w 7/8 + 9/10 teams in each conf. & a Bo3 knockout series b/w loser of 7/8 & winner of 9/10. How's that not more fun to watch as a fan!?
NHL's current season points structure + playoff format doesn't reward a great regular season anyway, so why not make the playoffs more entertaining..?
Can shorten the real 1st round to a Bo5 series and eliminate 2 regular season games to keep season the same length if needed.
@RMcElhenney & @VancityReynolds -- I have the movie script + true story of the greatest cinderella story in NCAA soccer history. Iconic sports movies exist for every sport -- Miracle, Friday Night Lights, Sandlot, etc. but nothing for US soccer. How can I pitch it to you?
The University of Minnesota dance team is arguably the most dominant program in all of college sports, and no one is talking about it.
Today, they’re competing in the national finals in both Jazz and Pom at UDA Nationals.
That’s not an anomaly.
That’s the norm.
Minnesota’s dance team has won 23 national championships since 2003—the most in college dance history. Year after year, they’re either standing on the top step or right next to it. They’ve produced viral routines (like the 2024 Jazz to Aerosmith’s “Dream On” that blew up with millions of views, even catching Aerosmith’s attention), international gold medals, and a standard that other programs openly measure themselves against.
That’s dynasty-level stuff on par with Oklahoma State wrestling (34 NCAA titles) or UNC women’s soccer (21+ titles), but in a niche where they own the record books even harder.
This is what sustained excellence actually looks like.
And here’s the part worth sitting with:
Many of the dancers on that floor today have massive social followings. They drive visibility. Engagement. Culture.
Yet they receive no scholarships.
No NIL money.
No headlines outside their sport.
What they have instead is process, pride, and a ruthless commitment to the work when no one is watching.
In an era obsessed with exposure and compensation, Minnesota’s dance program keeps answering the same question the same way:
What does mastery look like when the outcome is overlooked and the reward isn’t monetary?

Tune in to Varsity TV for highlights if you missed it. LSU and Ohio State also brought the heat this year.
Below are a few clips of the UofM dance standard and athleticism over the last few years, plus their full 2026 jazz routine.

@ChrisLongKSTP Why is this not talked about more? I have never talked to anyone who likes it. Why is Gary B so insistent on keeping it if nobody likes it?
@RussoHockey@JoeSmithNHL@ChrisLongKSTP NHL has to get rid of the rivalry playoff format. If playoffs started today, #2 & #3 in western conf. would play in the first round, which is a joke. That doesn't happen in any other pro league & completely devalues the regular season.
@PhilMackey I'd like to see Brosmer get a shot. They kept him for a reason and it can't get any worse... I'm sure JJ looks elite in practice, but has struggled mightily in games. Brosmer has played more games in his career and could be a gamer.
@stuholden@stuholden -- I hear every professional or former professional say youth soccer is a mess, but don'f see anyone bringing ideas on how to change it for the better. My challenge to you and others is to stop talking and start doing something to fix it.
@TaylorTwellman -- Do you know any history behind 'Own Goals' -- have they always been part of the game? When did they start?
Why does football credits 'Own Goals' rather than give credit to the player on the goal-scoring team who last touched the ball like most other sports.
