Superintendents should require all central office administrators, including themselves, to work in schools one-half day each semester. Elementary one semester, secondary the other. Actually work—not just visit! Some districts already do this or something similar.

Yes change is needed. Where I am at most late students are car riders and walkers. What really needs to be re-thought is traditional 7 hour school days for high schoolers. Many have to work now with inflation where it is.

Even with drivers making double & triple runs, we have 20,000 students miss school due to driver shortages =ing 3 million lost instructional minutes.
We know change is not easy, but it is necessary.
