Ghanaians and St Lucians, would never have gotten here
Two of the most hard headed, main-character-syndrome, black cultures in the world melting in the pressure pot of London
Growing up, my parents would be listening to Zouk and I would think it was Haitian music. Come to find out it was mainly coming from from Guadalupe 🇬🇵, Martinique 🇲🇶, & Dominica 🇩🇲. Till this day Zouk stays in rotation
Step dads really used to be respected culturally in the 90s. Like your step dad whooping your ass was very much accepted. Idk when they turned into a running joke. Men stepping up and healing families should always be applauded
Haiti didn’t pay for their freedom, Haiti was extorted. Yellow fever killed 85% of Napoleans army & they killed the rest. King Charles & the French monarchy was HOT about losing their most profitable slave colony, sent like 15 ships with 500 canons to Port Au Prince & said either you pay me 150 million francs AND give us 50% off of trade tariffs or ima bomb the shit outta yall & take the country back. Haiti chose wisely.
I wish we considered caribbean food as a shared tradition with regional specialities rather than rankin them.. because islands like montserrat, nevis etc... will never get their laurels. our culture is worth celebrating collectively rather than competitively.
