You lost two customers with that single decision to sell to another without informing the first.

You could have kept both customers if you communicated well.

Someone else liked a beat the other person has recorded on,

Then simply call up the first person and tell them you are about to sell but if they are still interested, they can simply match the offer from the other party.

You make that call while also informing the second party someone already recorded on the beat and you would need to talk to them first.

This establishes trust and transparency on both sides, no one feels cheated or unaware.

You sell your beat and have two potential returning customers.

With what you did, the first party won't be returning, the second party will find it difficult to trust you again.
