🌳As a special thank you for all your amazing eco-activity this academic year, we’re delighted to announce that we will be working with @JUST_ONE_Tree to plant one tree for every Green Flag awarded! 🌱🌿Let’s create a forest of positive change! 🌟🙌
Amanda had the pleasure of being interviewed by Kate Strong (multiple world record-breaking cyclist and world champion triathlete) for her 45-strong series.
Kate is using her platform for sport to raise awareness around important issues including climate change!
Spring is about fun, fresh starts and amazing colours!
And we’re ready for it. Are you? Bring it on.
Amazing how nature affects us so much. That’s why we believe in giving back to it. It’s in our blood, it’s a lifestyle!
Did you know trees actually can help keep us cool?
They cool the air through shade and transpiration. Their leafy canopies block sunlight, cooling surfaces below by up to 12° degrees!
We know trees play a huge role in achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals, number 2: Zero Hunger. Trees:
🌱- put nutrients into the soil to help crop production
💦 - regulate water flow into the ground - again helping crops
🌴 - provide shade for crops
And the list goes on!
Of all the things trees give us, we all know that they are a natural climate solution, right?
But how?
As they grow, trees absorb massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the air through photosynthesis and lock it away as carbon in their wood - over 1 tonne of CO2 each year.
Ever heard of the UN Sustainable Development Goals?
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a roadmap to address the world's global challenges and pave the way for a brighter, fairer and greener future for everyone.
With 17 goals, there’s lots to focus on.
Did you know today is the UN International Day of Forests?
The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests.
JUST ONE Tree focuses on restoring different types of forests at varying altitudes so that we can combat climate change from all angles!
