My point is, the floor plan should be functional first. You could consider a concept or not. Then, you design your facade.

I've seen architects focus on exterior art with a non-functional plan. I've redesigned plans before constructing. It seems it's now art over science.

@cearchitecture Not just any tree😩 FRUIT TREES!!!

I once asked my Architectural colleagues to choose between fruit trees or ornamental trees in our designs. Majority chose aesthetics over food.

@gabriel_ofonime Mostly less than 3m... And there was a beam malfunction. It was notified on time... We had to chisel and redesign the reinforcement.

But I want to participate in a construction like this 🥹 So fascinating.

@AmeeJOSEPH_ @AgunloyeAyomip1 I've struggled with this as well. I think the pressure is because most client want to see the sketch/ visualization/art first... It's when they like the exterior that they try to see the functionality of the plan.

Architecture is becoming more of art than science. It's sad.

Plumbing pipes connected and damp-proof membrane (DPM) laid.
50mm concrete blinding is cast to create a level base for the slab.

LESSON: Good prep prevents future problems.

Soil type affects building construction by influencing foundation design, stability, and load-bearing capacity. Soft or clayey soils may require deeper foundations, while rocky or sandy soils can support lighter structures with less reinforcement.

@archyteez @elisha_opuofoni From my experience, yes. They usually backfill some laterite, compact and add hardcore to the top level of the plinth beam and spread some laterite to smooth out the rough hardcore surface.

They'll then place the dpm and brc mesh, plumbing, sideboards and cast the concrete slab
