Federal agents fired tear gas and pepper bullets at protesters outside the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, after some tried to block a car heading toward the site. The chemical rounds engulfed more than 100 people, striking many who were not blocking traffic. Demonstrators collapsed, poured water in each other’s eyes, and fled as gas drifted into nearby homes. Broadview’s mayor condemned ICE for the “relentless” use of chemical agents and rubber bullets, warning it endangered residents and first responders.

HAPPENING NOW: JVP Chicago hunger strikers on their 18th day without food are outside Senator Tammy Duckworth’s Chicago Office, calling for an end to U.S. weapons to Israel.
As US Jews, we understand that the Israeli genocide is carried out with US bombs, US funds, and US-facilitated impunity — we continue to demand a full weapons embargo now. Senator Duckworth has the power to challenge our country’s participation in these atrocities.
