@WPoziomka Ever since you became a lawyer you have fearlessly represented your clients despite criticism. You’ve done that with the highest level of integrity and commitment to the profession and it is my privilege to work with you.

In recent years lawyers have experienced increasing criticism (letters, emails, social media posts, etc.) for representing clients in disfavour with some groups in our community. I’ve experienced this criticism recently in some higher profile cases I’m working on, including my representation of @HamiltonPride, former Hamilton City Councillor @MatthewGreenNDP (now MP), and most recently of MPP @SarahJama_ in the Ford Government’s decision to censure her in the Ontario Legislature. Here is an article I wrote in @TheSpec yesterday.

I respect the right of anyone to be critical, and as a human rights lawyer I do and will continue to fight for freedom of speech and the right to criticize (even if I’m the target of that criticism because one doesn’t like who I represent as a lawyer). With respect to that particular criticism however, I think it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how our legal system works. And it doesn’t deter me in representing my clients. #onpoli
