The Japanese Ministry of Culture (MEXT) has made a ruling on the copyright status of abandoned game PC-88 game "Jūkidō Sentai Cygnus," allowing the game to be distributed by the Game Preservation Society of Japan.
Some people have been unhappy that the GPS has played by the rules when it comes to Japanese copyright law, but this wouldn't have been possible if GPS wasn't seen as a legitimate non-profit organization. This is a big step forward in Japanese game preservation.
