Email from @SouthEastWater3 stating an increase in the price of drinking water of £8.00 a month! That’s a lot when my useage is £26 a month @MartinSLewis have you heard about this?
I wouldn't ever want to be Chancellor for all the money in the world. Incredibly tough job. Impossible ask. Especially over the last decade.
How do you try to piece together the mis-shapen, independent jigsaw pieces of consumer issues, business, the economy, bond markets, stock markets, job markets, world economies, tariffs, and more.
People often lambast Chancellors as 'unqualified' but no one is qualified to do such a broad job. Ultimately it is a political role for someone with hopefully some understanding of wider economic, financial and consumer issues.
We have to give some respect to those who try, even if we disagree with their decisions. As no one will ever get it all right.
Day 1 of camp - ‘Am I going to get my hands dirty/where is the washing machine/what is a fish slice?’ to day 5 of camp ‘do you need anything done Julie?/would you like a cup of tea Lynne?’
Chaos to Harmony in 5 days - Mission accomplished! 💙

@MartinSLewis Further financial controls are needed e.g reducing costs on food/fuel/air travel but all businesses are trying to recover lost income from the downtime during Covid/Brexit. Hmmm.
@MartinSLewis Sadly the Bank of England is one step away now from the real world and does not influence the inflation rate directly like it did in 1980s. People who were saving heavily then do not have the savings now as they have used them to survive the current economic environment.
After Labour took the Bank Of England out of the picture in terms of directly influencing the inflation rate, the banks have lost touch with the real picture and cannot control the rate of inflation but they still think they can?
Just left 11 Downing Street, after being invited to an urgent private meeting with @Jeremy_Hunt to discuss mortgages. I can't detail the discussion, but rest assured all the points I've been making about the need for banks not to ramp margins & proper forbearance were made.
The #RedArrows, in formation with Portuguese F16s, crossed downtown #Lisbon today in a flypast illustrating the bilateral relationship between #Portugal and the United Kingdom to mark the 650th anniversary of the British-Portuguese Alliance. #Flyby650#ForçaAérea#ukinportugal
Brazilian rainforest felled - soya grown - shipped to the UK - fed to horribly abused chickens - shit goes in the river - river becomes ecologically dead - children swim and get sick - the world dies . . . it’s broken . But if there were any will we could fix it . We need to motivate that will . Now .
