The greatest news you can ever hope to hear and believe. Today is the day of salvation. Repent and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
“What is the gospel itself but a merciful moderation, in which Christ's obedience is esteemed ours, and our sins laid upon him, wherein God, from being a judge, becomes our Father, pardoning our sins and accepting our obedience, though feeble and blemished? We are now brought to heaven under the covenant of grace by a way of love and mercy.”
—Richard Sibbes
“Let us never despair of any soul. Let us pray for our children, and faint not.
Our young men and our young women may long seem traveling on the way to ruin. But let us pray on.
Who can tell but He that met the funeral at the gates of Nain may yet meet our unconverted children, and say with almighty power, ‘Young man, arise.’
With Christ, nothing is impossible.”
— J.C. Ryle
A message to my fellow Southern Baptists. We need to get this done and move forward together. I propose an amendment to preserve our unity in truth. https://t.co/51wbtoJoMT
“Murmuring is no better than mutiny in the heart; it is a rising up against God. When the sea is rough and unquiet, it casts forth nothing but foam. When the heart is discontented, it casts forth the foam of anger, impatience, and sometimes little better than blasphemy. Murmuring is nothing else but the scum which boils off from a discontented heart.”
-Thomas Watson
John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
"Faith is that eagle in the cloud. It breaks through all & sees in a moment Christ in heaven; it looks backward & sees Christ upon the cross; it looks forward & sees Christ to come in glory."
—Richard Sibbes
John 15:18, 23-25; Romans 1:28-32, 8:7. The scriptures are clear. Unrepentant sinners who haven't placed saving faith in Jesus alone, hate Jesus. It's not enough to say you love Jesus. You must believe in the true, biblical Jesus.
Because of His great love for us, God intervened and made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our transgressions and sins. All this is summed up in one succinct statement: “it is by grace you have been saved.” Our condition was hopeless, but God intervened in grace.
Unholiness ought not to stop a sinner from coming to Christ, [any] more than a disease ought to hinder a man to take the physician’s help.
—Thomas Boston, Works 2:1
"That Christ should take our nature when it was in disgrace, being stained with sin – this was the wonder of humility. Look at a humble Savior, and let the plumes of pride fall."
—Thomas Watson
If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
— James 1:26
A worthless religion is found in one who let's their mouth run, or enjoys the unbridled tongue of another. Pursue Jesus alone.
"’Twas Israel’s God and King,
Who sent him to the fight,
Who gave him strength to sling
And skill to aim aright;
Ye feeble saints, your strength endures,
Because young David’s God is yours." - William Cowper
When people mock you for the biblical truths you hold, don't shy away. Own those truths, admit to living them and live them all the more! Just be sure the world is mocking you for the truths of God and not your opinions or ignorant takes.
