Afgezien wat de aanleiding van het #Kamerdebat is, is deze uitspraak ronduit verwerpelijk en kwetsend: ‘Als vrouw met hoofddoek in deze Kamer laat ik een ding duidelijk maken. Ik draag deze hoofddoek net als vele vele vrouwen met mij dat is een persoonlijke bewuste en vrije keuze.’
Hoe weet u (@a_lahlah) dat ‘vele vele vrouwen een persoonlijke bewuste keuze’ hebben gemaakt. Dit is geen keuze maar de uitvoering van een religieus bevel waarvan de schending hel en verdoemenis veroorzaakt. Uw onderdanigheid en lafheid aan een opperman Allah is geen keuze maar angst. U kunt veel leren van de dappere Iraanse vrouwen, ze verbranden hun hoofddoek, ondanks terreur en tirannie van zonen van Allah.

Greta Thunberg and I are the same age. I’m a senior atmospheric science major who studies climate; she is an activist and the UN’s climate prodigy with zero formal education on this subject.

Climate alarmists habitually appeal to scientific authority [only if it suits their creed], but they claim I’m not “qualified” and ignore experts like Dr. Judith Curry, Dr. Patrick Brown or Dr. John Christy, and instead listen to her uninformed testimonies that are nothing more than cultish, politically-charged doomsday rants that aren’t in the least supported by the body of scientific work.

Bureaucrats and world leaders over in Europe have made grossly miscalculated energy policy decisions based on youth activism, creating energy grids with an unstable fuel mix too heavily reliant on intermittent solar and wind, which don’t produce enough energy when it is needed most, resulting in price hikes. In Germany, nuclear has been dismantled and they have had to burn coal and wood to stay warm during the winter.

The only thing “net zero” reduces is the quality of life.

Twenty years ago, I boarded a train in Zurich, Switzerland with a visibly Jewish couple. We had flown from Tel Aviv to Europe on our way to St. Moritz to ski. As we settled into the first-class compartment, I noticed two well-dressed gentlemen sitting across from us. One was in his 50s, with gray peppered through his full head of hair, and the other was younger with piercing blue eyes and an Armani suit. They were blatantly staring at us.

At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I thought that maybe they had never seen a dark, exotic woman from Brooklyn who wasn’t dressed like a typical European, until I heard them speak in Hochdeutsch (High German):

I was shocked and appalled. How was this the 21st century?

My entire life had been seared with the secondhand smoke of the Holocaust, but I thought that was history. I will never forget that fear I felt. It was more than horror and anxiety. The image of myself as a brave warrior, standing up for the defenseless, shattered in one brief moment of hate. I couldn’t comprehend the baseless hatred that these “gentlemen” exuded with their Bally briefcases and shoes.

It took a few moments for me to absorb this blatant antisemitism.

For the first time in my life, I was rendered speechless. I said nothing. Not a word. The nausea I experienced couldn’t be cured with some Dramamine. As the train climbed through the most beautiful scenic route to the Alps, I couldn’t digest the majestic beauty of Switzerland. All that was racing through my brain was an imprint of the many Jews who had been packed into cattle cars to their demise. Even nature couldn’t defy the ugliness I felt during that excruciating three-hour ride.

It's 2024, and this is the new normal. People openly call for the destruction of Jews. They dehumanize us, delegitimize our homeland, and the old tropes, slurs, and blood libels are the “rage.”

Antisemitism never left Europe. It has been a central element in European culture for centuries, inextricably linked to its people, places, and especially the museums and churches that define its cities. Whether it's visiting the Jewish Ghettos in Rome, Gerona, Warsaw, Venice, or other sites, the residue of “otherness” remains.
Europe expelled its Jews and welcomed Islam, with migrants often inheriting antisemitic sentiments from an early age. Jews have always found themselves caught between the far right and the far left, united in their hatred of Jews. Only now has this animosity been mainstreamed.

But there is hope.

@ErikGeenen @DAVIDSTEVENS83 @zpz_polbru In Nederland zijn er ook fietsstraten. Meestal zijn er fietspaden die veilig gescheiden zijn van de rijbaan, maar hier en daar in stadskernen zijn er ook fietsstraten. Daar is niet het hele wegdek rood en mag je de fietsers wel inhalen, mits dat veilig kan.
