The Crater in God of War Ragnarök is genuinely one of the best optional areas I’ve explored in a game.
You go in thinking it’s just another side area, then suddenly it opens up into this massive region full of hidden paths, bosses, dragons, hunts, lore, and actual meaningful exploration.
What makes it even better is how much it rewards you for being curious. Every corner feels like it has something waiting, a fight, a secret, a new route, or some piece of Vanaheim’s history.
And exploring it with Freya makes it even cooler, because you get extra backstory and context about her past, her connection to Vanaheim, and how much this realm actually means to her.
It felt like a whole expansion hidden inside the main game, one of Ragnarök’s best areas easily !!
