No surprise here. Pivotal highs and pivotal lows on OPEX. Right up there with end of month and end of quarter shenanigans, everyone should already have these notes written down in a trading journal.
Utilized my brain and several AIs on my teenagers engineering homework. OpenAI 22%, Claude Opus 4.7 67%, Kid independently 88%, Dad (ex navy nuke EE) 100%.AI coming but not yet. Afterwards, manual notecards for every question missed.Kid said “Dad you are oldschool, but it works”
Linda Raschke ranked 17th out of 4,500 hedge funds. She doesn't fully automate her trading. Here's why.
Most people assume the more automated a trading system, the better. Remove the human, remove the emotion, improve the results.
Linda disagrees. Not because she's undisciplined. She runs three separate trading programs built on modeling and systematic rules.
But she keeps discretionary elements because of one thing: markets change.
"Human behavior has changed. Markets have changed. You see a lot more urgency and range expansion than you did 20 years ago. Humans adapt faster than systems."
A fully automated system trades the market it was built on. When that market changes its behavior, the system doesn't notice.
The human does.
Her edge isn't in beating the system at its own game.
It's in knowing when the environment the system was designed for no longer exists.
This isn't an argument against automation. It's an argument for understanding what automation can and can't do.
Systems apply rules consistently. Humans notice when the rules no longer apply to the current environment.
The best traders she's studied aren't the most automated.
They're the most adaptive.
@marketDepthX@unusual_whales It’s not rage tweeting, the news and tweet quality from unusual whales rapidly deteriorated for engagement. Stock data still valid. At least Wolf 🐺 points out stocks that go up and down.
@marketDepthX@unusual_whales Kodak bankrupt in 2013. Like the people who said invest in Enron 2007…oh wait $EOG still exists. Which iteration of stock we talking? HODL that bag in $BYND?
@JoeyGEX as J would say “$VCX” absolute menegerie. Going to start scaling in shorts to offset my lockup here at some point. Bitminer in the making. Okay LT but no one went broke locking in some profit.
@JoeyGEX Yeah I had multiple transactions and I got in late. Investments last November at ~$15.80, August at $12.86. Lost of people in from much lower and locked up. I’m an idiot or herb as Lucci says, so trying to short some to lock in profits.
@Mike_Taylor1972 see $VCX what 1 day later price rose to, hard to borrow, small supply. Another bit miner in the making…short term at least. Long term diff story. My cost basis is like $19 in this thing. Menagerie continues. I’ll short it at some point to lock in my profits.
@Mike_Taylor1972 I owned $VCX private before they listed public. Now retail chasing something with a ~800-900% premium to NAV just to get exposure to Anduril, Anthropic and OpenAI. What a menagerie these days.
@assface_burner Existential threat to the system, won’t take all the jobs but will drive unemployment 10%+ or higher short term and the leverage in the system will take care of the rest. Companies killing off the seed corn of future workers, nasty experience gap will catch up with them later
