The disheartening irony of much of Evangelicalism in the US is that there’s an unwavering belief in total depravity, but so much disbelief in racism in all of its individual and institutional forms.
The Church must be so deeply and intimately involved with the concerns of the neighbourhood that it becomes clear to everyone that nothing is outside God’s love but it ought not to fit so comfortably that it is welcomed as a well meaning agency of philanthropy.
