At 17, Dawn Loggins came home from a summer program and discovered her family was gone.

No note.

No warning.

No home.

Months later, she received an acceptance letter from Harvard.

This is her story.

Dawn grew up in rural North Carolina in a house without electricity or running water.

When the family needed water, she and her brother walked to a public park and filled jugs from the bathroom faucets.

Showers were rare.

Classmates called her dirty.

She kept showing up to school.

Her parents moved constantly.

Eviction after eviction.

New town.

New school.

By age 17, Dawn had attended four different high schools and missed nearly an entire year of education.

Most students would have fallen behind.

Dawn excelled.

When she arrived at Burns High School in 2010, guidance counselor Robyn Putnam immediately saw something special.

Dawn enrolled in makeup courses.

Studied before sunset because there were no lights at home.

Took AP classes.

Earned straight A's.

Joined clubs.

Then led them.

Photography Club.

Rock Climbing Club.

Spanish Club.

President of all three.

That summer she earned a place at the prestigious Governor's School of North Carolina.

Teachers helped buy her clothes.

Putnam drove her 200 miles to the program.

Nobody knew where Dawn would be living when it ended.

The concern turned out to be justified.

Near the end of the program, Dawn tried calling home.

The number was disconnected.

When she returned, the house was empty.

Her parents had moved away.

She was 17 years old.

Homeless.

Alone.

Most people would have stopped there.

Dawn didn't.

She couch-surfed.

Carried toiletries in her backpack because she never knew where her next shower would come from.

And every morning at 6 a.m., she went to work.

As a school custodian.

She swept hallways.

Cleaned classrooms.

Scrubbed desks.

Then sat down and earned straight A's.

By graduation year, she had:
• Straight A grades
• AP courses
• Leadership roles in three clubs
• A part-time job before school every morning

Then a teacher made one suggestion:

Apply to Harvard.

Dawn laughed.

Then thought:

"Why not?"

She became the first student in Burns High School history to apply.

Months later, an envelope arrived.

Harvard College.

Accepted.

Full tuition.

Full room and board.

Everything covered.

On graduation day in 2012, when her name was announced, the entire gymnasium stood and applauded.

Teachers cried.

Students cheered.

The girl who cleaned their hallways before sunrise was heading to Harvard.

When asked about her parents, Dawn didn't speak with anger.

She simply said:

"I love my parents. I disagree with the choices they've made."

Then she added something even more powerful:

"If I had not had those experiences, I wouldn't be such a strong-willed or determined person."

Burns High School had over 1,000 students.

Dawn Loggins became the first ever accepted to Harvard.

Proof that the circumstances you're born into are not the same thing as the future you're capable of building.

On a hillside this summer, a man will pay good money to take the coat off a sheep, then watch that coat earn him almost nothing at all.

This is the wool trade now. A thing his great grandfather built a life on, worn down to a chore he runs at a loss.

So look at the maths square in the face. It costs him around two pounds to shear one ewe. The fleece that comes off her, even now, in the best year for a decade, brings back about a pound and a half if she is a fine crossbred. If she is a hill sheep, a Welsh Mountain or a Swaledale, he might get thirty pence for the whole fleece. British Wool says the price would have to nearly double again just to cover the shearing.

So every sheep he clips, he loses on. And he has to clip every one.

A sheep left in her fleece overheats, cannot walk right, and gets eaten alive by maggots. The wool has to come off, for her sake, whatever it is worth. He pays, quite literally, for the privilege of being kind to his own animals.

Now feel the weight of what we have let go.

Wool once made this country rich. Whole towns were built on the back of it, and the great wool churches still standing across the Cotswolds were paid for with it. To this day the Lord Speaker of the House of Lords sits on a woolsack, set there centuries ago so nobody in the room would forget where England's wealth came from.

A fleece was worth fourteen pounds a kilo in the 1950s. The wool cheque, in his father's day, paid the rent for the year.

Today it will not cover the diesel to deliver it.

And so, in farmyards across the country, men who would rather not are quietly burning the fleeces off their own sheep, because a fire is cheaper than the trip to the depot. A material so fine that a kingdom was built on it, going up in smoke in the yard because nobody will pay a pound for it.

And what did we reach for instead. Plastic. Most of our clothes are now spun from oil, polyester and acrylic and nylon, shedding tiny threads into the sea with every wash, into the fish, into our own blood. It will not rot for generations.

So here we stand. A fibre that grows back every spring on nothing but grass and rain, that warms a child and then feeds the soil when its work is done, burning unwanted in a field.

While we dress ourselves, head to foot, in the very oil it was meant to spare us.

The sheep on that hill is still growing the finest coat in the world. We simply stopped being worthy of it.

Watching Piers talk to Megan Kelly I heard this. “You like what I’m saying. Yes. I like what you are saying. Let’s keep going because we like what each of us are saying.” There is a term for this but I will not use it. I’ll say this. There are people who are itching each others ears because it makes them feel good. My children I know about the corruption in the promised land. I know what they are doing and nothing fools me. In fact, I even know how they are trying to force my hand to bring about the end of days. I laugh. They do not control time. I created what you call time. But I am outside of time. I exist seeing everything happen in time all at once, and so the first thing that happened before time is the lamb was slain. The thing that happened at the culmination of time is the lamb was slain. When you take your last breath the thing I see that happened before that moment is the lamb was slain. I know what I am doing. Do not let religion tell you that there is no hope. Trust in me. Did I not say that whoever calls on my name shall be saved? This is still true. You wonder about your salvation. I say look at your works. They will be tried by fire but you will come out on the other side of it. Stop thinking that your Father is desperate to destroy you. I am not. I am desperate, if you can call it that, for you to come under the shadow of my wings. Much prophecy has been sensationalized. Trust in me. It is not the heart attack fear that is coming to my children. I am dealing with the wicked, and the unrepentant, yet always giving an opportunity. It is not your fault you were born into a world of death and destruction. Yet, remember this. I am giving you grace so that you will partner with me to participate in this plan to crush satan and bring in the Kingdom age fully realized on Earth. Cast off all fear, anxiety, and doubt. I am with you. The I Am is with you!
