Agric Project facilitation /Extension Services for Jigawa State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority. (JARDA) Farmer's Guide To Success NGCARES J-CARES
I led a team from Jigawa State to Bouaké in Côte d’Ivoire, where we had a discussion with the leadership of @AfricaRice and formally agreed on a partnership that will reshape the future of rice production in our state.
We signed an #MoU that covers several areas, from developing better, high-yield rice varieties to improving our farming methods, cutting post-harvest losses, and giving our farmers the kind of hands-on training that makes a real difference in the field. This is not just another agreement; it’s a big step toward the kind of modern, productive agriculture we’ve been working hard to build.
Jigawa has what it takes to stand out in rice production. This new partnership simply puts us closer to making that a reality. What matters most is that, our farmers get real support — practical knowledge, better seeds, and the kind of tools that make their work easier and more rewarding. Working with AfricaRice gives us that chance.
I also appreciate Dr. Baboucarr Manneh @BaboucarrManne8 and his team on the way they received us and showed genuine interest in working together. Now that the agreement is signed, we’ll get straight to work on the next steps so that activities can begin on the ground without delay.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more food-secure Jigawa.
Earlier today, I received the National Coordinator of the NG-CARES (@NGCARESFG) programme, Dr. Abdulkareem Obaje, and his team at Government House, Dutse.
Our conversation reminded me why we fought hard for the continuation of this initiative. NG-CARES is one single programme that has truly touched the lives of our people. From small farmers to traders and artisans, it has brought real relief and opportunity to our people.
He commended Jigawa for being one of the frontline states in the implementation of NG-CARES and confirmed that we are fully prepared to participate in the next phase. I appreciate his kind words and the recognition of our efforts.
As a government, we will continue to support and invest in programmes that strengthen livelihoods, promote agriculture, and expand social security for our citizens. We will support these programmes because we have campaigned for their continuity.
Jigawa will remain committed to policies and actions that lift people out of poverty and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of our state.

Earlier today, I had the privilege of flagging off the distribution of biofortified seeds to 30,000 smallholder farmers across Jigawa. It’s a big move—one that tackles two tough challenges head-on: malnutrition and climate change.
With support from @HarvestPlus_Ng and other partners, we're handing over Vitamin A fortified Maize and Iron & Zinc fortified Millet seeds to our farmers. These are not regular seeds our farmers plant Year after year, they’re high-yielding, climate-smart, and packed with nutrients. In other words, they grow well and help us stay healthy.
This is part of something bigger—recruiting more extension workers, supporting rice and wheat farmers with input loans, and setting up farm mechanization service centres across the state. Piece by piece, we're putting in place a better, more secure food system for Jigawa State.
To our farmers, you are not simply part of the plan; you are the plan. Let's make the most of it. Together, we are creating a healthier, more resilient future.

As part of our visit to India, I had the chance to lead our team to the AP Chambers Investment Summit at GITAM University in #Vijayawada.
The event brought together people doing great work in agriculture, livestock, dairy, aquaculture, healthcare, and agri-tech — all areas that matter a lot to us in Jigawa.
I spoke about our plans to grow Jigawa’s agriculture and how we’re making it easier for investors to do business in our state. Our team also shared ideas on the many ways to grow agribusiness in Jigawa State.
I’m happy to say that many Indian companies showed real interest in investing in Jigawa. That’s a good sign, and we’re hopeful about what’s ahead.
We’ll keep building partnerships like this to bring more jobs and opportunities to our people.

Today in Hyderabad, I sat down with the leadership of Srinivasa Farms (@srinivasa_farms) one of India’s biggest names in poultry—for a serious talks on how we can bring their world-class expertise to Jigawa.
We’re working out a partnership that covers everything from disease control and hatchery technology to farmer's training, feed quality, and even setting up grassroots poultry cooperatives back home. Their Managing Director and technical team will be visiting Jigawa soon for an on-ground assessment.
This is the kind of collaboration that will move Jigawa closer to our goal: which is to build a modern, self-sustaining poultry sector that creates jobs, supports small farmers, and strengthens our food systems.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is in the pipeline, and I’m confident we’re laying the groundwork for something impactful.

On Tuesday, I had a productive meeting with international investors and agricultural partners. Our goal is to make Jigawa a major player in Nigeria’s agribusiness space.
We walked them through some of the big moves we’re making—like setting up a tractor assembly plant, an organic fertilizer factory, Commodity Exchange and Warehouse Receipt System as well as tapping into 6,000 hectares of irrigable land. A modern halal processing hub is also in the works.
Jigawa’s got the land—about 80% of it is arable—and water bodies that can power serious farming. With the right partners, we’ll scale up mechanization, draw in global investors, and open up real job opportunities.
Farming is in our heritage. Now we’re taking it to the next level.

Earlier yesterday, I commissioned the Lallashi Borehole-Based Irrigation Scheme in Maigatari. This project will allow over 80 smallholder farmers to farm all year, using solar-powered irrigation on 10 hectares of land.
Agriculture is the backbone of Jigawa, and we are committed to making it stronger. We are already working on similar projects in Kafin Hausa and Birniwa, with more planned for Gumel, Sule Tankarkar, and Gagarawa local government areas. Our goal is simple—more land in use, more food produced, and more jobs for our people.
To our farmers, this is for you. Take care of it, use it well, and let it bring prosperity to your families and our state.
Together, we are growing a better Jigawa!

Under the stewardship of His excellency @uanamadi who has boldly taken Agriculture by the horn, while his efforts have started yielding fruits , Jigawa state through JARDA is Open to collaboration for Pilot projects in enhancing Sustainable agriculture in our dear State.
Our locally agricultural drone
Our target at @VoraRobotics is to bring solutions through drone technology especially in agriculture which we believe is the new oil.
Contrary to the claims of naysayers, we did not import food. The recent drop in food prices across Nigerian markets is a direct result of the deliberate efforts of our President and leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to ensure food affordability for all Nigerians. I expressed this during my visit to Agbeyewa Farms, the 10,000 hectare cassava farm located in Ekiti State.
Earlier Today, I addressed stakeholders at the Jigawa State Stakeholders Consultative Workshop on Livestock Reforms in collaboration with the Presidential Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee.
Livestock is more than an economic enterprise in Jigawa — it’s a way of life for many families whose herding traditions are handed down through generations. It accounts for nearly 10% of our state’s GDP, and we want to make it even stronger.
Through our 12-Point Agenda, we are rolling out programs to enhance animal husbandry, expand dairy production, and strengthen support for our farmers. We’re also planning to create a separate Ministry for Livestock Development, so this sector gets the attention it deserves.
To date, we’ve trained 300 Community Animal Health Workers, vaccinated more than 560,000 animals, and protected 57 grazing reserves. These are just the beginning. We want a vibrant, productive livestock industry — one that enhances food security, creates jobs, and grows our economy.
I thank Professor Attahiru Jega and the Presidential Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee for their collaboration. I’m also enthusiastic about the $2.5 billion investment from the Brazilian meat-processing company JBS S.A., which will create ranches and state-of-the-art processing plants in Nigeria.
This is an urgent call to arms for one and all: This is critical to ensuring our efforts build an inclusive, sustainable, and transformative livestock sector. Let us make Jigawa a pioneer in Nigeria’s livestock revolution together.

"The 2025 Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) provides valuable insights into the expected rainfall patterns and climate conditions for the upcoming season. As farmers, it is essential to plan ahead and make informed decisions about planting, harvesting, and crop management. I encourage all our farmers to take advantage of this critical information and adjust their farming practices accordingly. At the National Agricultural Development Foundation (NADF), we are committed to supporting our farmers with the necessary resources and expertise to ensure a successful farming season. Let us work together to maximize the potential of our agricultural sector and build a more resilient and productive farming community. This effort is ultimately aimed at contributing to the achievement of President Tinubu's Food Security Agenda, as outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda, and we are proud to play a role in ensuring a food-secure Nigeria."
Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, ES/CEO of NADF.
Statement by the Honorable Minister of State Agriculture and Foodsecurity
@tvcnewsng Breakfast Program
In past years, our food production sector has suffered significant losses, leading to low productivity
and increased dependency on imports.
However, since coming into government, we have worked
tirelessly to reverse this trend. We have provided farmers with improved seeds and essential inputs while also increasing the level of mechanization across the agricultural sector. Additionally, we have strengthened our agricultural research institutions, enhancing their capacity to drive innovation and improve yields.
As part of our commitment to supporting farmers, we are in the final stages of revamping the Bank
of Agriculture. @bankofagricng By the end of the first quarter, this process will be completed, ensuring that farmers have better access to financing. Furthermore, we are establishing a strict and credible data system to
enhance transparency and efficiency in agricultural funding and policy implementation.
The Ministry of Agriculture @NGfmafs has been working in close synergy with state governments, research
institutions, and other relevant departments to implement policies that boost food production Through these partnerships, we have enhanced extension services, improved rural infrastructure, and ensured that farmers at the grassroots level benefit directly from government programs.
This collaborative approach is strengthening our agricultural value chain and making Nigeria more foodsecure.
As we continue to work hard in our role, I want to sincerely thank His Excellency, The President, Bola AhmedTinubu GCFR @officialABAT for his
unwavering support and commitment to agricultural transformation. His leadership has been instrumental in driving these reforms, and with his continued backing, we will achieve even greater milestones in ensuring food security and economic prosperity for our nation.
