I agree on the metric grabs but I think that if they came out with a process and logical order of metrics and how they are weighed, we would criticize those metrics and criticize Metric 1, Metric 2, Metric 3 etc. Seems like the same argument would be made.

Here's the biggest issue with how the committee does its job -- or at least how they explain it.

They have myriad metrics they use but they use them as a grab bag. Metric A supports Team B, Metric C negates Team D, and they use them as they please.

What's needed is a process -- not a computer ranking, there needs to be room for human input -- but something saying "we look first at this, then this, then this, then this" and when we get to the end of that process, what does it look like?

Instead, it's "Alabama is 3-1 vs current top 25" which is just reverse-engineered lunacy.
