The rich do not pay high taxes for the social services to the poor, the middle class does.

@itsBrettG @cafreiman This is a map of income equality, not wealth equality. In wealth Scandinavia is an extremely unequal society with an exceptionally privileged old money class. In Sweden new money can't compete with the old money because income is taxed hard but inheritance isn't taxed at all.

Capital income tax is 30 %, there is no inheritance tax etc. The Nordic countries learned the hard way that taxing the rich makes them leave the country so they stopped doing it. The middle class and the working class pay much harder taxes.

Amusement parks are designed to have no barriers to enjoyment even for totally clueless tourists so they also become popular with fresh off the boat migrants. To visit national parks you need a car, more planning etc.

@_JeanLeon @akarlin Obviously your worthless views deserve to be ignored. Nearly half of the North American examples are from Canada which uses a ton of heat pumps just like Sweden/Finland/Norway/etc. Whoever made this chart classifies heat pumps as AC for North Americans but not for Europeans.

@VicSpinei Belgium is a car park the size of Belgium. There's no wilderness in Western Europe. Only Finland has saunas and every sauna owner also has AC since heat pumps were subsidized by the government. (Apparently AC in Finland saves the planet but AC in Germany would destroy it.)

The 2008 crisis killed Finland's ability to maintain the bloated welfare state and politicians have been propping it up ever since with debt and growth killing taxation. Finnish GDP is still lower than it was in 2007!
