Hi from inside the House Chamber where King Charles is making history by being only the second UK monarch to address a joint session of Congress—the first, of course, was his mother in 1991.
The Hilton donated the ~2600 dinners that went unserved at WHCD. They freeze dried the steak and lobster for longer shelf life before giving them to 2 shelters for abused women and children. HUGE thank you to the staff that worked through the night under terrible circumstances.
Speaker Johnson just now to @NikolenDC describes his experience during the Correspondents’ Dinner shooting: “Saturday night was a surreal experience. I mentioned in an interview a little while ago that the President's now had three failed assassination attempts. I happened to be with him for two of them. These things are becoming all too common, and we've got to be very careful about that. What happened Saturday night is, as you all know, in that giant ballroom, there's an upper deck sort of that is around the perimeter. And I was up there in a group of people taking photos, so I didn't even hear the gunshots. And the first thing I knew my- half my detail team ran behind me, grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me out the closest door was about six feet away. The other half of my team went and grabbed my wife, Kelly, and she met me outside a few seconds later, they took her out another door. We went down into the basement of the hotel in our motorcade and sat in the trucks and awaited further developments for quite some time. So it was a scary experience for everybody there. I'm grateful to law enforcement, to the Capitol Police, who are excellent in doing their job. Secret Service did a great job, valiant people there. But obviously we do need to look at security measures. When you're going to gather that many people there, you think of it. You had the president, the vice president, Speaker of the House, that's the first three in line. I don't think Chuck Grassley was in the building, but, you know, he would have been in charge after that. Half the cabinet, at least, was there. They're going to have to reevaluate this. This is why we need the ballroom. It really is. The President's right about that. We need a facility that is secure enough to host events like this without having major national security concerns.”
Virginia voters on Tuesday approved a new congressional map that would give Democrats an advantage in 10 House districts, leaving just one safe Republican seat, CBS News projects. The new map could help Democrats pick up as many as four House seats, marking a major blow for Republicans in a nationwide redistricting battle ahead of this year's midterm elections.
Her name was Cerina.
She was a mother of two. A dentist who graduated with honors. She loved to read, run trails, travel and spend time with her family.
And like all too many women who become victims of domestic violence, her husband killed her.

I asked Leader Jeffries about Congress approving $170 Billion in Ukraine war funding versus Trump’s $200 Billion ask on Iran. He said: Trump has failed to make the case to Americans, Congress, and NATO, and w/ Ukraine the free world was united to stop Putin
I asked Speaker Johnson about the reported $200B Iran war request to Congress. He said it’s “not a random number,” will be “detailed and specified,” and “we’ll look at that,” stressing the U.S. must “adequately fund defense” — even as he described the mission as “all but complete.”
