It was recently announced that children born of rape are to be recognised as victims in law.

Following my campaign, some rapists will be stripped of parental responsibility for children born of their crimes. However, the law does not protect all children. We must fight to close those loopholes and ensure they cannot gain access to our grandchildren through the family courts.

The Government must carry out research into the needs of children born of rape and their parents and carers, and develop a training programme to be rolled out to all professionals.

We cannot put the right support in place if we do not understand what those needs are.

I’m in London today to meet with the Victims’ Commissioner for England and Wales.

I’ve also done media interviews about the decision made by Prime Minister Andy Burnham to stop the early release of rapists. I have also requested a meeting with him.
