@sunset_city_rpg Have you considered a Creative Commons license or something similar? I know it’s not quite the same as public domain, but honestly I think it’s cooler
@GutenLeinad@Rabadash2 Yeah god forbid you give someone an ounce of grace and think for two seconds about the overall point they’re trying to make before insulting them
@GutenLeinad@Rabadash2 It’s a short stating of a much wordier point, one which makes sense in the context of the point The point he is making is that anyone who says things like “P = NP would change everything” doesn’t know what they’re talking about and is most likely a grifter and a hack.
@GutenLeinad@Rabadash2 The concept of “knowing”, especially conversationally, is looser than having proof. Surely you know that. Insulting him for it is just plain rude.
Also, “you people”, fucking hell dude.
@GutenLeinad@Rabadash2 No, the whole point is that we don’t have proof. When basically every serious complexity theorist believes P != NP, and with good reason, it is disingenuous and rude to insult someone who agrees with that consensus. Have some fucking decorum.
@GutenLeinad@Rabadash2 Straight after posting this I’ve realised it’s not clear that I agree with the initial poster - it’s clear that it’s almost surely impossible that P = NP if you have a proper understanding of the complexity theory behind it
@GutenLeinad@Rabadash2 Yeah precisely, do you really not think that having a CS PhD might come with a better understanding of the problem domain? Like a better understanding of complexity theory? Come on dude
@ID_AA_Carmack Scratch was my first experience programming, and I sunk hours and hours into it when I was 13. I would not have even considered myself a computer person without it. Just graduated from the University of Oxford doing comp sci, so I’d say it succeeded in getting me into the field.
@gruffdonaar I agree, but when it comes to remaking games, rather than remastering them, the line gets blurred. Postal 2 is a good time capsule for 2003 edginess, when remaking it do you aim for 2003 humour or 2026 humour? Because if you don’t update anything then half the jokes are outdated
@parrybreaker@AdamGibson112 Honestly I think you might be, not me? Like, you’re the one who insulted him for googling whether the lack of fun in the first two hours is a sign of what’s to come
@parrybreaker@AdamGibson112 It makes complete sense to google and see if a game has aged badly and isn’t worth playing if the first 2 HOURS aren’t fun, the fuck is wrong with you?
@Michael_Druggan Isn’t this just the latter half of the Allais paradox? I get you’re probably trying to make the point of expected winnings being a well defined thing, but your replies in the comments about reasonable utility functions only being concave is kinda putting the cart before the horse
@MrHissara@DUSKdev Thank Goodness You’re Here kind of delivers on this imo, it’s reasonably short as a result but I basically didn’t stop laughing while playing it.
@ar1stot3@k1rallik ARC-AGI 3 is actually a really interesting one because you can actually just go and play a sample of it at https://t.co/X0Ty0H6nCV . When you think about the ways current LLMs are known to fail (situational reasoning, formal reasoning, etc) it tracks they’d all do so badly.
@ProgDirectorate I like the idea that Padme’s death was the point of no return for Anakin, so he wasn’t “fully” on the dark side until he became Vader.
That being said it was probably Mae physically touching the crystal that did it in the clip, although this is still kinda dumb.
