@IsaacKing314 IME the counter-take has been "they will still be insisting it's a bubble as the final panel gets slotted into the Dyson sphere". People don't think that (or care whether) denialists will be convinced by any amount of reality-face-slapping.
@145k4 Would you rank it as more evil than the fate of the chick? (Just curious. I am not a vegan, and I eat chicken regularly. But I find the artwork completely inoffensive.)
@pronounced_kyle Insanely dystopic indeed. You're still in possession of their ink! Didn't worry though, a better world (continued auto-billing until you've mailed back their property) is coming. (tongue in cheek but I an actually a happy instant ink subsciber for like 5y and 50 total pages)
@deanwball@TobiasRose I tried to come up with a way of saying this that doesn't come off as insulting your intelligence and mostly failed. It's not difficult to understand why only that domain would be treated uniquely. I do not believe you when you claim you don't understand it. Bio/cyber don't RSI.
@davo_arid@cheaptrickrules The meta is to do anything that will get people to mention it. Mirroring, annoying music, weird visual effects, if it'll get comments that's algo++
@AlexGodofsky The unprincipled people in OP's remark weren't No voters, it was people advocating for No votes for purportedly fairness reasons, but who have never and would never advocate voting D in NC to fix the gerrymander there/national ban/anything other than unilateral D disarmament.
@deanwball To answer the direct questions, yes and no, respectively. These answers are not in conflict with one another. Which part do you see as being uncalibrated?
@DaleCloudman@interstng_timez@bitcloud I make no claims about consciousness; I've yet to see it coherently defined, let alone demonstrated to exist. My claim is that the do-computation-by-mail scenario that OP put forward as an argument against LLM consciousness applies to all existing things, including all humans.
@DaleCloudman@interstng_timez@bitcloud QM does not require any probabalistic behavior. We _model_ it that way, but it is absolutely compatible with total determinism + (non-local) hidden state. The rest of your post is just dualism with extra steps.
@DaleCloudman@interstng_timez@bitcloud So repeat it at the level of atoms, or quarks, or whatever level you're willing to model as behaving coherently. The argument now holds at that level. The point is it's a fully general proof that physical things don't have consciousness (if it were valid in the first place).
@DaleCloudman@interstng_timez@bitcloud There aren't any neurons involved in what Mr interesting is arguing. He's saying do the same procedure but for neuron activation spikes instead of LLM weights, and you with would have "proven" that brains can't possibly produce consciousness either.
@glangley How does data deletion contribute to transparency, auditability, accountability? Seems to me it's the opposite of those things. Does Flock support indefinite retention periods? To be blunt, why even offer anything less?
@foomagemindset@gcolbourn I thought that language would be intractable, that we'd still be banging our heads on it in 2050 and that would be why RSI wouldn't happen. Now I think RSI is likely and probably not in decades timescales, so now I just hope (but don't think) EY is wrong and alignment is trivial.
